Background / History

Li Guolong was taken to the Internet Addiction Rehabilitation Academy, which captures people found at internet cafés without identification. By the time he discusses an escape plan with Chen Feng, he, Fatty, and Yellow Hair have been imprisoned for six months 17 21.

The academy erased his existence from the outside world. His parents no longer believed they had a son, his photographs disappeared, and records of his achievements were reassigned to others. His father is the police officer Captain Li; the inscription “To Father” on Captain Li’s treasured lighter remains a clue to their lost family connection 17 22.

Li and his companions used a map and office key left by former student Chen Xinran to plan their escape. The notebook also recorded Professor Sheep’s annual absence at the end of July, providing a window in which they could obtain the key needed to cross the academy’s fog-bound field 21.

Personality

Li is cautious about strangers and openly contemptuous of cooperation with the academy. In one reset, he dismisses Chen Feng as a “lapdog” after seeing him report another student. Professor Sheep returns only Fatty and Yellow Hair, both transformed into Imposters. Li’s absence leaves Chen uncertain whether he escaped or died; that timeline does not establish his fate 18.

Escape with Chen Feng

After a reset, Li initially distrusts Chen but accepts his offer to obtain the required key. At the gate, the Sheep-Face Key fails to open the iron lock. Li volunteers to enter the sanatorium and asks the others to contact his father if they escape, but Chen tears the lock apart before he can leave 20 21 22.

Outside the academy, Li reports their captivity to the police. Professor Sheep catches up with the group, however, and the responding officers accept his claim that they are escaped psychiatric patients. Li protests, but the attempted appeal to ordinary authorities fails 23 24.

Sanatorium Rescue and Successful Flight

In a later loop, Li enters the sanatorium to cut the power. Chen intercepts him and falsely claims to be working for Captain Li. After verifying Chen’s knowledge of his father, Li supplies the Sheep-Face Key and agrees to lure the Rabbit Nurse away so Chen can steal the second key needed to free She Qingqing 28 29.

Li survives the distraction and helps execute the final escape plan after Chen defeats the Nurse through her Logbook. The group releases captives to divert attention, avoids surveillance, and reaches Happiness Internet Cafe 29 30.

Online Exposure

While hiding at the café, Li urges action for the academy’s remaining prisoners. His online posts about its crimes expose the group to danger, followed by an attack involving white-coated intruders and a compulsory chant that causes combustion 31.

After resetting and escaping the chant’s memory-based curse, Chen finds Li registering a forum account. He warns Li not to repeat the action and smashes the monitor 32.
