"Whoo-whoo-whoo~~~"

The long whistle sounded as the train slowly pulled away from Platform 9 3/4.

In the swaying carriage, Kyle held up his wand and demonstrated magic for Hermione.

"The power of a spell isn't fixed. It's closely tied to your emotions. If you can unleash strong emotions while casting, its power will increase accordingly."

Kyle maintained the Lumos spell. "Like this."

As soon as he finished speaking, the tiny glow at the tip of his wand suddenly became dozens of times brighter, visible to the naked eye.

"Wow!" Hermione exclaimed. "The books never mentioned that."

There were plenty of things the books didn't mention.

The same spell could have effects as different as two entirely separate spells in the hands of a master and an apprentice.

Take Uchiha Madara, for example. He had forced a B-rank Majestic Destroyer Flame into producing an A-rank, nearly S-rank forbidden technique effect. It had taken nearly twenty members of the Allied Shinobi Forces jointly casting Water Release: Water Formation Wall just to barely block it.

One Madara's Fire Release equaled an entire class's Water Release.

Kyle extinguished the light at his wand tip. "Try it yourself."

Hermione eagerly took out her own wand and tried casting Lumos as well. "Lumos."

But her attempt failed. The glow at the tip of her wand was not much different from before.

Unwilling to accept it, Hermione tried several more times, only to fail each time.

She tried hard to stir up her emotions, her face twisting from exertion.

Just as the little beaver was fretting, the tightly shut compartment door slid open with a rattling sound.

Outside stood a rosy-cheeked girl with two golden braids. She said nervously, "Sorry, all the compartments up front are full. May I..."

Seeing Hermione in the compartment holding a wand with a twisted expression, as if she wanted to kill the boy across from her, the little girl froze. "May I... come in?"

"Of course." Hermione instantly regained her composed demeanor and quickly tidied the textbooks piled on the seat.

The girl thanked her and sat beside Hermione. When she saw Kyle's handsome face, she froze again.

After recovering, she spoke somewhat shyly. "My name is Hannah Abbott."

"Hello, I'm Hermione Granger."

Kyle put away his wand. "Kyle Dumbledore."

Then came the expected reaction.

Amid the clatter of the train, it slowly traveled along the endless tracks, rows of houses flashing past the windows.

Under the gaze of the golden-braided girl, Kyle, who had been silently reading Transfiguration Today, felt increasingly uncomfortable.

That look made him feel as though he were some rare magical creature.

Kyle took the initiative to close the magazine and looked up at the girl across from him. "Is there a problem?"

Hannah's already rosy cheeks turned even redder, and she awkwardly looked away. "No, no."

Could she say that it was just because Kyle was handsome, and that his mismatched eyes—one dark and one light—held a peculiar charm that made her want to look a little longer?

Hermione, who had barely managed to make her Lumos spell somewhat brighter, lowered her wand.

"By the way, do you know which house you'll be sorted into? I hope I get Gryffindor. I heard Dumbledore himself graduated from there."

As she said this, Hermione glanced at Kyle across from her.

"If nothing unexpected happens, I'll probably go to Hufflepuff. Everyone in my family was in Hufflepuff."

Hannah did not care much about the Sorting result.

But if possible, she wanted to be in the same house as Kyle.

There was no other reason. He was just... too good-looking!

Kyle lazily leaned back against his seat. "Anywhere is fine as long as it isn't Slytherin."

During the previous term, he had visited Slytherin's common room—or dungeon would be a more fitting name for it.

It was not as damp as he had imagined. In fact, it was quite dry.

Still, Kyle felt that if he stayed there for seven years, his chances of developing rheumatism would be far greater than in the other three houses.

After getting past their initial awkwardness, the three began chatting.

Time passed quickly. At around half past twelve, a loud clattering commotion came from the corridor.

A smiling woman with dimples pushed open the compartment door and asked, "Dear, would you like to buy
