Naruto: They Have Systems

"Yin, you're back. I made dinner today. Let's eat together."

Uchiha Mikoto carried the food she had prepared out of the kitchen, smiling as she spoke.

But to Uchiha Yin, her smile looked painfully forced, with a hint of reluctance and gritted teeth behind it.

Mikoto? Does she have a fever? Am I under a genjutsu? Or does she need something from me?

Uchiha Yin stared at her, bewildered.

Or did she poison the food? Is she trying to kill me?

Uchiha Yin knew perfectly well how Uchiha Mikoto felt about him.

Since arriving in this world, he had seen her at least ten times. Forget talking to him—she had never even given him a friendly look.

And Uchiha Yin had no intention of chasing after someone who clearly wanted nothing to do with him.

Yet today, Uchiha Mikoto had made dinner especially for him? And waited for him to come home to eat it?

This... this is even harder to believe than Kushina Uzumaki confessing to me today!

No wonder Uchiha Yin looked as though he had seen a ghost.

Seeing his expression, Uchiha Mikoto nearly blasted him with a Great Fireball Technique.

But she held back her irritation and forced a smile. "Yin, go ahead and eat. I'll make a few more dishes."

Without waiting for his reply, she hurried back into the kitchen.

"Warning, host: three hours remain to complete the mission. If you fail, the system will carry out the stated penalty without exception."

Hearing that voice from inside the kitchen, Uchiha Mikoto clenched her teeth.

In fact, a week earlier, something called the Strongest Brother-Complex System had bound itself to her.

That might have made it the first system to bind itself to anyone other than Uchiha Yin.

Much like Tsunade's Strongest Healer System, it had bound itself to Uchiha Mikoto without her consent. It even declared that it would turn her into the ultimate doting older sister, one who would far surpass Itachi.

Mikoto had no idea who Itachi was, but she understood what it meant to dote on a younger brother.

It meant liking, spoiling, and protecting him.

That boy had a nasty personality. He was arrogant, looked down on everyone, and had a foul temper. Uchiha Mikoto could hardly stand him...

But she had given in. She had tried to resist, only to lose all her chakra. That was when she realized the system meant every word it said. If she refused to carry out its mission, it would force her to act shamelessly in front of Uchiha Yin.

The thought of acting that way in front of him made Uchiha Mikoto want to break down. So, with the system's deadline almost upon her, she had finally begun the mission.

Side Mission One: How can the ultimate doting older sister have such a strained relationship with her younger brother? Prepare a feast for Uchiha Yin, then ask him to forgive your past rudeness toward him. Success: +1 proficiency in fire-nature chakra transformation. Failure: You will be forced to act shamelessly in front of Uchiha Yin.

Chapter 16: The Strongest Brother-Complex System

Once Uchiha Mikoto finished cooking, she brought the dishes out of the kitchen.

She really was worthy of being the devoted wife and mother she would become in the original story. Though she was only around twelve, her cooking already looked, smelled, and tasted wonderful.
