Naruto: They Have Systems

With a soft moan, Uchiha Mikoto reached out and touched Uchiha Yin's face.

The Genjutsu, Temple of Nirvana Technique, normally sent illusory feathers drifting down, putting anyone who saw them to sleep.

But Mikoto had modified it to send anyone she touched into a deep sleep.

To complete her task, Mikoto wanted Yin to sleep deeply. That way, she could be sure he wouldn't suddenly wake up while they were sleeping together.

Just imagining Yin waking to find her beside him made Mikoto's face burn.

Absolutely not! He'd get the wrong idea! With that thought, Mikoto chose to put Yin into a deep sleep. Then he wouldn't find out!

Unfortunately, Mikoto had no idea that Yin had already awakened his Two-Tomoe Sharingan. The instant she used her Genjutsu, it activated on its own and rendered her technique useless.

What is Mikoto doing? Why is she trying to knock me out with Genjutsu? Is she planning something bad?

Yin's mind raced. He couldn't make sense of what Mikoto had done.

Still, he stayed on guard. If Mikoto really meant to harm him, she couldn't blame him for setting family ties aside.

But while Yin was on alert, Mikoto gently shifted him to one edge of the bed, then slowly lay down at the other...

Yin was stunned. He had no idea what to make of it.

He had been ready to subdue Mikoto the moment she tried anything harmful.

And... that's it? Mikoto, you did all that just to sleep beside me? You even moved me out of the way?

Yin's cheek twitched. He was utterly speechless.

Chapter 19: He Couldn't Figure It Out

Even with his quick mind, Yin couldn't figure out why Mikoto had done this.

But it doesn't seem to hurt me?

Yin gave up trying to understand. He turned slightly to face Mikoto, still pretending to be fast asleep.

In fact, he had opened his eyes a crack. In the darkness, it was hardly noticeable.

Unlike Kushina Uzumaki, twelve-year-old Mikoto had already begun to mature.

Looking closely at her, Yin could see that Mikoto, who had received so little attention in the original story, would one day be every bit as captivating as Kushina and Tsunade.

Her gentle nature and appearance only made her more endearing.

Would it really be right to leave a cousin like her to that stone-faced Uchiha Fugaku?

A bold thought flashed through Yin's mind.

And as far as Yin remembered, Mikoto and Fugaku didn't even know each other yet. There was still a chance!

With that thought, Yin suddenly opened his eyes.

People in the Naruto World tended to be independent. Mikoto had slept apart from her parents since she was very young.

She had never expected to find herself lying on Yin's bed tonight.

Mikoto had been terribly shy at first. When Yin turned toward her, she jumped, thinking he had woken up, and nearly cried out.
