Kushina Uzumaki's abilities were plain for all to see. Minato Namikaze believed he could defeat her too, but certainly not that easily.

"Yin, let's have a proper fight."

Minato smiled and formed the Seal of Confrontation.

Uchiha Yin formed the Seal of Confrontation as well.

"Watch out."

As soon as he finished the hand seal, Minato flicked his wrist. With a sharp swish, a kunai shot out.

Yin's eyes narrowed, and he abruptly dodged to the side.

The kunai skimmed past his hair and flew on. With a thunk, it buried itself in a nearby tree trunk.

"Nice attack."

Yin touched his hair and spoke with admiration.

Minato was already showing the skill that would one day let him fight with kunai and the Flying Thunder God. Even now, his throws were fast, precise, and ruthless—probably better than those of an ordinary ninja.

Of course, that only meant Minato was exceptionally skilled at throwing kunai.

When the first attack missed, Minato caught four finely crafted kunai between the fingers of one hand and threw them at Yin.

But the four kunai seemed wildly off target. Judging by their paths, not one of them would hit Yin.

Was he so nervous that he messed up?

That was what the watching classmates thought.

Then Minato hurled another kunai with all his strength.

The fifth kunai overtook the first four and struck them one by one, changing each of their paths. All four shot straight toward Yin.

The sudden reversal caused an uproar.

"What incredible kunai throwing."

Even Jiraiya spoke in admiration.

Chapter 28: I Want You as My Student

Five kunai shot toward Yin at high speed, each from a tricky angle.

Yin seemed to forget to defend himself. He stood frozen in place.

Poof!

The kunai struck Yin, and a cloud of white smoke burst out.

A section of log now stood where Yin had been. Yin himself had appeared behind Minato.

Yin raised his right fist and charged. Then he put his strength into a single punch.

Huh?

Minato clearly hadn't expected Yin to break through his best kunai-throwing technique so easily with a simple Substitution Technique. He hadn't even seen Yin form the hand seals.
