Cold sweat dripped down Strange's face. "You're serious."
"We're very serious," Mordo replied, answering Strange's question.
He took a black staff from the Weapon Rack at the Training Ground.
Ryan began teaching Strange how sorcerers fought, starting with the staff in Mordo's hand. "This is the Staff of the Living Tribunal. The human body can't store much magical energy, so we store it in weapons."
As Ryan explained, the staff in Mordo's hand began to glow. Mordo channeled magical energy into it, and golden light spilled from its surface.
Strange took a step back. "I think one hit from that staff would finish me off even without the magic."
"Then don't get hit," Ryan advised, stepping aside.
Mordo showed no restraint as an instructor. Not only did he use the Staff of the Living Tribunal, he also tapped his toes and leaped into the air with his Jumping Shoes.
His opponent, Strange, was a sorcerer who had only just enrolled, but Mordo held nothing back.
On the Training Ground, Strange saw Mordo raise his staff and leap toward him. He hurriedly thrust out both hands, conjuring an Energy Shield to block the strike.
Mordo's staff slammed into Strange's shield. The force drove Strange back again as he tried to absorb the blow.
That retreat gave Mordo an opening. He kicked off the air with his Jumping Shoes, pressed his advantage, and knocked Strange to the ground in a single strike.
"I win." Only after knocking Strange flat did Mordo slowly land. He looked down at him. "You need more practice."
