Ryan took off last. Black Panther felt a breeze brush his cheek, and Ryan vanished from where he stood, flying through the shield and into the sky.
Beneath the sky, beyond the shield, lay the real battlefield.
Biochemical Beasts swarmed across the land, turning it the same gray-white as their skin.
When Captain America saw Ryan fly beyond the shield, he ran to Black Panther. "Why did you let the man with the Mind Stone go out there alone?"
"I doubt anyone could take the Mind Stone from Ryan." Black Panther gazed at the figure in the sky, unable to keep a trace of awe from his heart.
He had never seen anyone like him before.
He had looked up Ryan's records. According to them, Ryan had single-handedly repelled the Chitauri invasion.
At first, he had dismissed the account as wild exaggeration. Now it seemed Ryan might truly have been that powerful.
Black Panther turned to Captain America. "Ryan's on the Avengers team too, isn't he? Can you tell me about him?"
"..."
Outside the shield, Ryan glanced at Ebony Maw and Scarlet Witch, who had followed him. "Bring me the biobeasts' commanders."
The commanders were hidden among the endless ranks of Biochemical Beasts. Unfortunately for them, Ryan had superpowered vision and Super Brain to analyze what he saw.
He pointed in two directions. "Corvus Glaive is commanding over there. Proxima Midnight is over there."
Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight were both Thanos's subordinates. Ryan had met them once before.
One was a female alien with an eyepatch; the other was a male alien with a wrinkled face.
Now Ryan had his eye on them, and so did Scarlet Witch and Ebony Maw.
"I'll take this one; you take that one," Ebony Maw and Scarlet Witch agreed, then flew
