Bitterness spread through Mordo's heart.

He had watched Ryan enter Kamar-Taj. It hadn't been long, yet Ryan could already defeat him with ease.

If Ryan had more time... Mordo stopped himself from following that thought.

One defeat did not discourage him. He climbed to his feet, ignoring his wet clothes and hair. "Let's continue, Ryan."

"But..." Ryan didn't understand Mordo's insistence. Ryan had held back just now; otherwise, Mordo would have gone down instantly.

Mordo was already a mess, yet he still wanted to fight.

Mordo had his reasons. He waved the black rod in his hand and told Ryan the Magic Artifact's name.

A magic wand.

Then Mordo pointed to his shoes. They were Magic Artifacts too, and he had already demonstrated what they could do.

Mordo called them Jumping Shoes.

Finally, Mordo looked at Ryan. "You use the Portal well. In Kamar-Taj, no one but the Sorcerer Supreme can use it better."

"I think I'm just okay." Ryan had many ideas for the Portal that he had yet to develop.

If he put them all into practice, he could do much more with the Portal.

Mordo's next words caught Ryan off guard. "No using the Portal."

"Huh?"

"You need a Sling Ring to cast the Portal properly. If you suddenly can't use it, you'll be at your enemy's mercy."

"True." Ryan understood. If he lost the use of both arms in a fight, he couldn't draw a circle or open a Portal.

Mordo's concern made Ryan realize what he had overlooked, and he immediately asked how to deal with it.

Mordo held nothing back. "A qualified Sorcerer needs more than one way to fight. Spells, Magic Artifacts, even fists."

"Fists?"

"Yes. The energy of the Infinite Space doesn't just let Sorcerers use Magic. It strengthens our bodies too."
