Ryan looked at Wong, delighted that the man wanted to spar with him.

He was the type to answer a challenge head-on.

And if they were going to fight, they should go all out. Ryan reminded Wong, "Aren't you using a Magic Artifact? Your hands are empty."

"No need. You can choose one if you like."

"No need."

Since neither of them would use a Magic Artifact, Wong said a little more. "Magic Artifacts with spirits choose their own masters. Ryan, you'll find one that suits you too."

"Mm. Got it."

Ryan understood what Wong meant. Just as a fine bird chose the tree it roosted in and a worthy minister chose the lord he served, perhaps Magic Artifacts worked the same way.

Wong charged straight at Ryan, the Energy Shield in his hand blazing with light. It looked intimidating.

Wong was clearly a capable Sorcerer. Ryan's expression grew serious as he slipped the Sling Ring onto his finger.

He drew a circle on the ground, then stuck his foot through it.

The other end of the Portal opened beneath Wong's feet. Before Wong could react, he tripped over Ryan's foot.

Thud.

Wong's heavy body hit the ground, kicking up dust.

He was not the kind of Sorcerer to concede just because he had fallen. The moment he landed, he planted a hand on the ground and tried to rise.

But he had barely lifted himself when a red Energy Shield pressed against his neck.

As if the slightest movement would cost him his head, Wong said in a trembling voice, unable to believe it himself, "I lost."

"I tripped you. That wasn't exactly honorable." Ryan shook his head, acknowledging his own fault.

He helped Wong up. Wong seemed troubled by losing to Ryan, his face a picture of disbelief.
