After so much debate over this new book, the time had come for it to go on sale. It was like a major exam: how well it did would determine its fate.

Longtime readers knew that a new book's first-day subscriptions mattered most. Many wonderful books had been forced to end hastily because their initial subscriptions were too low.

This book had actually been placed in the reading-and-cultivation category from the start. In my original plan, at least early on, the Immortal Realm would exist only as a special advantage. The focus would shift to the Immortal Realm later.

But it seemed few readers were buying into that.

So a few days ago, I hurriedly talked it over with my editor.

After that, the book underwent a major revision.

I moved most of the climactic scenes to after its release, which made the recent chapters feel a little dull.

That was probably why everyone felt the story had too much filler and too much romance.

But the changes had an upside: once the book went on sale, the pace would suddenly pick up.

I had been writing books for years, but Six Dynasties: Immortal Tales Through Time had helped me the most. Writing it, I had slowly learned how to tell a story and control its pace, even if I still wasn't perfect at either.

So I was full of confidence in this book. It ought to be much better than Six Dynasties.

Even after all those changes.

But with the main plot settled and the setting fleshed out, I wasn't worried the story would fall apart. It would only get more exciting.

As I said, I had learned how to tell a story.
