He sprang from the gate and lunged at the fifth survivor. Lightning Blade shrieked in his hand, its blue light carving an arc through the night before bursting outward.
The fifth survivor staggered twice, then pitched forward. His face struck the stone pavement with a dull thud.

The Man in Black stood at the gate and turned to look at Hiruzen Sarutobi.
A mask covered most of his face, leaving only his eyes exposed. There was no Fear in them, no guilt—only a cold, indifferent calm.
Then he turned away. Lightning Blade flared again, and he lunged at the sixth survivor.
Hiruzen Sarutobi was seething when Jiraiya's voice rang out from the distance, urgent and sharp.
"Teacher Sarutobi! What are you doing? Don't be rash!"
"Kakashi is Minato's student!"
