Disfiguring Kick was one of the Life-Reaping Scholar's signature techniques. It could leave a person's face hideously deformed!
It did more than inflict a simple injury. The kick twisted blood vessels and muscle alike, and unless the twisted tissue was restored, the damage could never fully heal.
Yongye raised an eyebrow. His mouth twitched; he didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
The kick was only so-so in a fight and almost useless to him now. But for humiliating someone and making an example of them, it was hard to beat!
He shook his head and thought no more of it. His gaze returned to the hunched figure at the center of the Ruins. That was the real prize, and Yongye meant to get a big haul from him.
About five minutes passed. The morning wind scattered another layer of ash across the Ruins.
Yongye raised a hand and formed Hand Seals.
The two coffins slammed shut. Their lids dropped into place with a dull, ironlike clang. Cracks in the ground slowly sealed, and the gray-white soil of Impure World Reincarnation seeped back underground through the gaps, as though the coffins had never been opened.
Yongye hopped down from the stone block and walked toward Danzo. In the silent Ruins, each footstep rang out with the clarity of a battle trumpet.
Danzo's right arm was still outstretched, his fingers curled as if he could catch hold of his dead kin.
