Tang San had only just activated his Purple Demon Eye when the blood-red haze before him suddenly darkened. His Soul Power felt pinned down by an invisible hand, and his limbs grew heavy with it.
Demon Charm's control was far more troublesome than it had looked from the stands.
The Red Mist dulled his senses, swallowed sound, and steadily slowed his reactions. For an ordinary Four-Ring Soul Ancestor, the moment he stepped inside, the outcome would already have been decided.
Tang San shifted half a step sideways.
The Moon Blade grazed his shoulder, slicing open his team uniform. Before the beads of blood could scatter, a second Moon Blade swept in toward his waist.
The Eight Spider Lances stabbed into the ground.
Clang!
A sharp Spider Spear caught the blade, throwing off a string of sparks. Tang San leaned back with the force of the impact and took three quick steps with Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, narrowly slipping past the crossing blades.
Hu Liena's soft laugh sounded from deep within the Red Mist.
Her voice seemed near one moment and far away the next, soft and clinging.
"Tang San, those eyes of yours don't seem much use."
Tang San did not answer.
He closed his eyes.
Blue Silver Grass spread low across the ground from beneath his feet, every blade becoming one of his feelers. The tremor of Moon Blades severing stems, the faint sound of Demon Charm's steps pressing against stone, the tiniest shifts in the flowing Red Mist—all of it traveled back to his mind, thread by thread, through his Soul Power.
If I can't see clearly, I won't look.
