Background / History
Connection with Bai Jin
Bai Jin first became involved with the sect at sixteen, when he rescued one of its caravans from Evil Soul Masters outside the Star Dou Great Forest. Chen Xin subsequently tested him with a sword strike, but could not advance the blade beyond three inches from his brow. Gu Rong also challenged his abilities. Neither guardian thereafter treated him as an ordinary junior, and gate disciples eventually admitted him without obstruction 2.
When Ning Rongrong left home for Shrek Academy, Ning Fengzhi asked Bai Jin to look after her, offering negotiable compensation. During a later visit to Shrek, Ning Fengzhi saw that the demanding training had made his daughter more responsible and chose not to bring her home 1 14.
Nine Treasure breakthrough
Ning Rongrong’s absorption of the Aromatic Silk Beauty evolved her Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. The transformation overcame the seven-story restriction that had prevented generations of the sect’s support Soul Masters from advancing beyond Soul Saint 63 64.
Ning Fengzhi, Chen Xin, and Gu Rong witnessed the result. Rather than conceal the evolved Martial Soul, the group decided Rongrong would reveal it through tournament battles. Its appearance attracted invitations, inquiries, and hostile interest, including a black-market commission seeking information about it 64 75 77.
Soul Hunting Operation
Spirit Hall targeted the sect alongside the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan in an operation prepared over three years. Bibi Dong regarded the sect’s wealth and battlefield support as strategic threats while it continued supplying Heaven Dou with fighters 169.
The night assault left the mountain gate half destroyed. Ning Fengzhi amplified the defending disciples while Chen Xin and Gu Rong protected him. Bai Jin arrived as overlapping attacks threatened combatants from both sides, stopped the attacks, and imposed a ceasefire. The sect opened its medicine hall, and Spirit Hall’s accompanying healers also treated casualties 170 172.
Ning Fengzhi initially distrusted negotiations offered after an invasion. He subsequently examined the settlement’s military and commercial terms and signed the agreement. Spirit Hall seized more than forty thousand weapons in Seven Treasure City, while the sect’s Soul Masters were ordered to withdraw from Heaven Dou’s army 172 176.
Continued neutrality
Ning Fengzhi later sent Rongrong an account of the attack, casualties, concessions, and Bai Jin’s decision to spare the sect’s members. Although relieved that her family and elders had survived, she admitted wanting to return home before resuming her training on Sea God Island 193.
After the Spirit Hall Empire was founded, Ning Fengzhi reaffirmed continued trade and requested confirmation that the neutrality clause remained valid. Bibi Dong approved it with her seal 198.

- Sect headquarters — includes a mountain gate, main hall, medicine hall, and a back-mountain evacuation route 2 170 172.
- Caravan network — one caravan’s rescue establishes Bai Jin’s early connection with the sect 2.
- Trade routes — described by Bai Jin as carrying half of Heaven Dou’s business; he argues that seizing the entire network would drive merchants and capital toward Star Luo 176.
- Wealth — described as sufficient to rival a nation, making the sect a military and economic concern for Spirit Hall 169.

- Tang Sect — The sect is permitted to provide personal rescue rather than military support to Tang San, and is later designated to send observers to the Joint Verification panel investigating the unauthorized Star Dou hunt 172 188.
