"Hm?"
"What happened?"
A refreshing warmth filled Tang Wulin's body, jolting him from his memories. Only then did he notice Mu En staring at him in shock.
Mu En had been lying there, waiting for Tang Wulin to gather his thoughts, when a faint green glow appeared on the walls around the Sea God Pavilion. It peeled away from the walls, formed a long green river in midair, then surged toward Tang Wulin.
His Limit Douluo instincts told Mu En it would not harm Tang Wulin, so he let the green river pass, curious to see what would happen next.
But while he waited, disaster struck. Half the power the Golden Ancient Tree had accumulated over ten thousand years vanished in an instant, turning into life energy that rushed into Tang Wulin.
Mu En was beside himself with regret. Why hadn't he stopped it? Now, looking at Tang Wulin radiating life energy, he had no idea what to do.
Kill him, and what if all the accumulated power escapes?
Spare him, and who knows whether the remaining half can be saved?
Feeling Mu En's resentful gaze almost pierce his heart, Tang Wulin rubbed his nose and fell into confusion again.
What happened now?
"Xiao Lu, what are you doing?"
The God of Destruction had just returned from a debate with Tang San at the Divine Realm Center. He pulled back his hood, revealing short, dark-red hair standing up like steel needles. His handsome, sharp-featured face tightened with worry as his crimson eyes fell on the Goddess of Life, who had even brought out her Super Divine Artifact.
"Xiao Zi, I sensed one of my marks. It's on the Douluo Continent."
The Goddess of Life twirled a strand of emerald hair around her finger, her eyes equally bewildered.
She had never even been to the Douluo Continent. What was more, the mark was a blessing of her divine power. She had never bestowed one before; it would cost a tenth of her power. How could it have appeared in the lower realm now?
"The Douluo Continent?"
After hearing her explanation, the God of Destruction frowned and sank into thought.
He and Tang San had just quarreled over the Douluo Continent. For reasons unknown, a layer of Nine-Colored Light had enveloped it, cutting off the Divine Realm's ability to observe it.
Tang San had nearly gone mad with anger. He had tried to draw on the Divine Realm Center's origin power to pierce the barrier around the continent and find out what was happening there.
But the God of Destruction had stopped him. How could origin power be used so lightly?
Their relationship had grown increasingly strained. The God of Destruction had always felt Tang San paid too much attention to the Douluo Continent. It was understandable, but other gods who had come from lower realms merely glanced at their old homes now and then. Who watched every day like Tang San? Even those who had ascended to the Divine Realm alongside him showed no such obsession. Ning Rongrong had never looked back once. It made the God of Destruction suspicious.
"My connection to that mark is growing weaker. Xiao Zi, I have to help him."
The Goddess of Life made her decision, compassion filling her face.
"All right."
The God of Destruction agreed at once. Gods were not supposed to interfere lightly with the lower realms, but Xiao Lu's divine mark was already down there. Helping its bearer hardly counted as a violation.
Everyone knew Tang San contacted those two Soul Beasts in the lower realm from time to time. They had all lived together in the Divine Realm for so long, seeing one another day after day. They simply pretended not to notice.
The Goddess of Life wielded the Tree of Life, the Super Divine Artifact that belonged to her alone. Vast, exalted Life Divine Power poured toward that faint connection in the lower realm.
A green-gold tree mark suddenly appeared on Tang Wulin's forehead. Rich, boundless Life Divine Power traveled an immense distance, crossed the unknown barrier, and finally reached his body, though much of it had been lost along the way.
Pure emerald light burst from the mark on his forehead and enveloped him in an instant. Its soft glow soaked through every limb and bone, making him look as though he had been carved from jade.
Warm, boundless vitality washed through Tang Wulin's body. His muscles grew stronger, his meridians tougher. Every injury and trace of impurity within him was cleansed away and replaced by surging life.
A small cluster of green light broke away from Tang Wulin and sank into Mu En's body.
"This..."
"This is..."
"What divine power!"
Mu En was nearly in tears. He could clearly feel his body, riddled with damage from the Dragon Core's violent energy, coming back to life under that magnificent power.
His skin regained its color, his white hair turned black again, and his once-hunched body rose from the chair, straight as before.
He had become the Dragon God Douluo who once shook the continent, and boundless ambition bloomed within him.
No, this little fellow is the real boss.
Mu En looked at the child enveloped in a great mass of green light and thought of the tiny cluster that had healed him.
Better retire quietly after all.
Mu En lay back down.
But there was no doubt about it: that was divine power, power from the Divine Realm.
Mu En's eyes burned with excitement. The gods seemed to have forgotten this continent, and no miracle had descended in ages. Yet today he had witnessed one with his own eyes—and gained an enormous benefit besides.
Could this child have come from the Divine Realm?
Mu En suddenly recalled what Tang Wulin had said earlier, all those names he had never heard before. Could he be a divine child sent down by the gods to gain experience?
Hiss...
Mu En could not help drawing a sharp breath.
At last, the restoration ended. The tree mark on Tang Wulin's forehead faded, leaving him staring in bewilderment as he felt his transformed body.
After all, he was only a six-year-old child who had just lost his parents.
Tang Wulin felt the power surging inside him, and delight broke through his confusion. He had no idea what had happened, but growing stronger could only be a good thing.
One day, he would catch that boy and ask why he had brought him here, why he had torn him so far from his parents.
Mu En relaxed when he saw Tang Wulin alive and full of energy. The Golden Ancient Tree had lost half its power, but making a connection to the Divine Realm was worth it. Besides, his body had been healed, and all the violent energy in the Dragon Core had been purified along the way.
"Are you... Elder Mu?"
Tang Wulin stared uncertainly at the middle-aged man before him.
"That's right. It's all thanks to the power that came from you."
Mu En's voice rang with excitement. He had been given a new lease on life.
"By the way, child, are you all right?"
"I'm fine, Elder Mu. But what exactly happened?"
Tang Wulin was exhausted. He had gone from happily awakening his Martial Soul to being separated from his parents and sent to a strange place. Now he had received some benefit from who knew where. It was enough to make his head spin.
"Life Divine Power? How could it be Life Divine Power!"
A panicked voice suddenly sounded in Tang Wulin's mind, filling him with a growing sense of dread.
"Damn it, the divine power disturbed the seal."
"Thank goodness we're in the lower realm."
"Damn it! Where did that Life Divine Power come from?"
Tang Wulin listened to the furious voice ranting on and on in his mind, his eyes gradually going deadpan. There's more?
