Background and History

Su Chen crossed into the Douluo Continent six years before his Martial Soul awakening and grew up an orphan in Holy Soul Village. He spent those years quietly tempering his body. At the village ceremony, the Destiny Plunder System activated and granted him the Chaos Ancestral Dragon Martial Soul, a dragon physique, and innate level-twenty Soul Power. His awakening suppressed Tang San’s Martial Souls and drew Spirit Hall deacon Su Yuntao’s attention 1 2.

Old Jack gave Su Chen the village’s sole work-study place at Nuoding Academy. There, Su Chen rejected Yu Xiaogang’s offer to teach him and won Dorm Seven’s leadership by defeating Xiao Wu in a sparring match. He later defeated Tang San and publicly challenged Yu’s Soul Master theories 2 4 6 8 9 10.

Su Chen obtained both of his first Soul Rings in Soul Hunting Forest, taking the Mandala Snake ring that Yu had intended for Tang San. After Spirit Hall certified him as a Soul Grandmaster, he declined an invitation to travel to Spirit City, choosing to remain at Nuoding Academy. When Tang Hao attacked Dorm Seven, Su Chen shielded Xiao Wu and forced him to retreat 16 17 19 21.

At his awakening, Su Chen is a boy of about six with a composed bearing beyond his age 1.

Personality

Su Chen remains composed when others question or threaten him. He rejects Yu Xiaogang’s authority outright and declines Spirit Hall’s summons despite accepting its certification. Against Tang San, he can be severe: after winning their dormitory fight, he spares him but warns him against further trouble 4 8 19.

He treats Xiao Wu differently, buying her bedding and food, giving her a valuable pill, and protecting her during Tang Hao’s attack. His care helps establish the close bond she describes by calling him “Brother Chen” 6 11 21.
