Lin Fan threw a punch. Wang Dong, behind him, failed to react and was sent flying through the air.
He flashed after her, appeared in front of her, and swung his fist again.
He knocked Wang Dong higher, flashed above her head, then drove a fist down hard into her abdomen.
Wang Dong had no time to react. The Overlord Chasing Wind Fist slammed her into the ground with a heavy, muffled thud.
"I surrender! I'm done fighting! How was that practice? You just beat me senseless! The gap's too big. Before I could even use my second Soul Skill, you came at me swinging!"
Wang Dong panted as she used the Clear Sky Hammer to struggle to her feet, her arms and legs trembling. "And you! Did you have to hit so hard? You nearly flattened me."
She had thought she could practice against Lin Fan. She hadn't expected him to hold nothing back.
"You never told me to go easy! Now you know."
Lin Fan withdrew the Explosive King and chuckled. "I know, I know. I didn't expect the gap to be this big. What was that Soul Skill? It was incredible."
Wang Dong puffed out her cheeks and said quickly, "And I've never seen it before."
"It's a Self-Created Soul Skill," Lin Fan answered calmly.
"A Self-Created Soul Skill!"
Wang Dong looked up in surprise, her eyes shining as she stared at Lin Fan. "I heard those are incredibly hard to develop. How did you figure it out? Can you tell me? I want to develop one too."
Her question brought a proud smile to Lin Fan's face, and he raised his voice a little. "Of course. When I was little, I watched an animated show called Fruit Force. I developed it after watching a character named Unrivaled Thief."
Wang Dong stared blankly at his proud expression. "That simple?!"
She could hardly believe Lin Fan had developed a Self-Created Soul Skill so easily. Not even one person in a hundred could manage it.
Lin Fan gave a small nod. "That simple!"
Wang Dong puffed out her cheeks, disbelief in her eyes. "All right. I'm not sure I believe you, but I'm still jealous. Was this Unrivaled Thief really that strong?"
"Very strong," Lin Fan said wistfully. "In Fruit Force, Unrivaled Thief was always taking on whole groups by himself."
Wang Dong's eyes widened. She stepped right up to Lin Fan and looked at him. "Wow! Taking on whole groups alone? Unrivaled Thief sounds amazing!"
Lin Fan lifted his head, his cheeks reddening as Wang Dong stood almost against his chest. "He certainly was."
Wang Dong nodded in understanding. Then she noticed how close she was to Lin Fan and immediately stepped back, her face flushing. "Oh, sorry. I'm aching all over. Could you... give me a massage, Lin Fan?"
Lin Fan relaxed. After thinking over her request, he chuckled. "Sure. Clean the dorm for me for a day, and I'll give you a massage in return. How's that?"
Wang Dong stared at him and shook her head. "A whole day of cleaning!? No, no, no. That's too much!"
Lin Fan turned at once and started strolling toward the dorm. "Forget it, then."
Wang Dong gritted her teeth and thought it over. As though she had made up her mind, she called after him. "...Fine, I agree! But you have to massage me for about an hour."
I shouldn't be getting the short end of the stick, right?
Lin Fan turned back with a faint smile. "Sure, no problem."
An hour for a day's cleaning. Not a bad deal.
Not long after Lin Fan and Wang Dong reached their agreement, Huo Yuhao saw from a distance that their fight had ended.
He wondered why Lin Fan and Wang Dong had been fighting. Had they argued and come to blows?
Could this mean Wang Dong will move back into our dorm?
Delighted by the possibility, Huo Yuhao walked over to them.
"Wang Dong, why were you two fighting here?"
Huo Yuhao came up behind Lin Fan and Wang Dong and asked.
"Huo Yuhao? What are you doing here?!"
Hearing the familiar voice, Wang Dong turned toward Huo Yuhao in surprise.
"Oh, I saw you two fighting, so I came over to have a look."
Huo Yuhao rubbed his head and smiled.
"Oh, Lin Fan and I were just sparring."
Wang Dong told him straight out.
"Oh."
The news that Wang Dong had only been sparring with Lin Fan left Huo Yuhao disappointed.
He had thought they'd had an argument and started fighting. It turned out Wang Dong had just wanted to test her strength.
"Huo Yuhao, do you want to come sit in our dorm for a while?"
Wang Dong asked with sudden interest.
"Sure!"
Huo Yuhao nodded.
He wanted to see whether Wang Dong was comfortable in Lin Fan's dorm. If she wasn't, he could persuade her to come back.
"Mm."
Wang Dong gave a brief reply.
Then Lin Fan and Wang Dong led Huo Yuhao toward their dorm.
When the three returned, Huo Yuhao immediately noticed Wang Dong hurry to the corner by the bathroom and pick up a broom to clean.
He also noticed Lin Fan sitting casually on Wang Dong's bed, directing her cleaning. Wang Dong didn't look the least bit angry.
Huo Yuhao was stunned. He and Wang Dong had fought over dorm rules back then, yet Lin Fan could tell her to clean without making her angry.
"Wang Dong, why did you pick up a broom and start cleaning?"
Huo Yuhao asked, trying to sound casual.
He had never seen her so obedient about cleaning before.
"Oh, I've been cleaning since I moved into Lin Fan's dorm. Why, Huo Yuhao?"
Wang Dong looked up at him.
"No reason. Just asking."
Huo Yuhao felt a jolt of shock, though he forced a dry smile.
What? Wang Dong started cleaning as soon as she moved in with Lin Fan?
"Oh... Huo Yuhao, how am I doing? Pretty hardworking, right?"
Wang Dong asked.
"Hardworking. Wang Dong, didn't you say there were rules for anyone sharing a dorm with you? What happened to them?"
Huo Yuhao's defenses crumbled, though he managed to keep a smile on his face.
She had never worked this hard when they roomed together. How had Lin Fan gotten her to do it?
"When I first moved in, Lin Fan told me I couldn't keep my old rules, so I dropped them."
Wang Dong chuckled.
"What? He said no, and you just dropped them!"
Huo Yuhao was so shocked by her answer that he couldn't stop himself from complaining.
"Then why did I have to follow them? Why does Lin Fan get no rules while I had to put up with dorm rules?"
He still remembered the rules clearly enough: don't disturb her, and he would handle the cleaning from then on. Which rule number had that been again?
"Hmm? Huo Yuhao, what did you just say? You spoke too fast. I couldn't hear you."
Wang Dong, finished with her cleaning, looked up at him and scratched her ear.
"Nothing."
Huo Yuhao gave a dry laugh.
"I was saying how lucky Lin Fan is to have such a good roommate."
Wang Dong straightened up at once, looking proud.
"Of course! I clean practically every day~"
Huo Yuhao's jaw dropped.
"What! Every day!"
