Background / History

Old Mondstadt and the Rebellion

Approximately 2,600 years before the Sky Screen’s account, Venti was a small wind spirit living in Mondstadt under Decarabian, the God of Storms. The city’s hurricane walls prevented even birds from passing through. There, Venti befriended a harp-playing boy who had never seen the blue sky and dreamed of a world beyond the walls 34.

The boy invited Venti to overthrow Decarabian, and the two joined the mortals fighting for freedom. The rebellion destroyed the tyrant’s towers and ended his rule. New Mondstadt was founded with the principle that no one would ascend its throne 34.

Decarabian’s final storm threatened the surviving rebels. The boy played his harp, setting time’s strings vibrating and dispersing the storm into a breeze lasting a thousand years. The cost was complete erasure from history, including his name. Venti took the boy’s appearance to preserve the last trace of his existence 34.

Arrival in the Douluo World

Venti was among the characters summoned through Su Yun’s beginner card draws. By his first appearance, he had already been traveling the Douluo Continent; he returned to the academy when the golden rankings scroll appeared 1.
