Background and History

Tang Qi is a transmigrator born to Tang San and Xiao Wu in the Divine Realm. Familiarity with another version of their story initially made him suspicious of Tang San, but he found that this world's Tang San had followed a different path under Ah Yin's upbringing 1. After his Martial Soul awakening, Tang San brought him to Clear Sky Castle on the Douluo Continent and entrusted him to Niu Tian and Tai Tan 1 2.

Tang San asked him to take a gifted Soft Bone Rabbit Soul Master as a younger sister. Tang Qi traced the request to Jiang Nannan and intervened when the Xuanming Sect pressured her sick mother 3 4 5. He later met Huo Yutong near the Star Dou Great Forest, helped her after Tian Meng's sacrifice, and created the Holy Necromancer Martial Soul for her using the remaining power of Electrolux's remnant, with her consent 9 14 16.

When Tang Ya invited him into the declining Tang Sect, Tang Qi agreed on the condition that he become Sect Master. He brought Huo Yutong and, later, Xiao Xiao into the sect 19 26. At Shrek Academy, he led their freshman assessment team, recruited promising opponents, and used the sect's growing support to help Tang Ya reclaim its former grounds from the Iron Blood Sect 61 64 74 79.

Tang Qi is irreverent toward inherited reputations and quick to challenge practices he considers misguided. He questions the Tang Sect's poison-ring tradition, disputes Shrek's teaching and safety decisions, and restricts Tang San's ability to contact him through his Sea God Martial Soul 3 12 13 35 39.

His help is often practical and openly transactional: he calls his offer to Jiang Nannan an investment in her potential, pays Huo Yutong for work rather than treating it as charity, and recruits capable students into the Tang Sect 5 26 61. He is also protective, healing injured companions and placing Huo Yutong and Xiao Xiao's safety first during Ma Xiaotao's rampage 14 30 40.
