Korn looked over the ravaged battlefield, the shattered bodies of his Battle-Brothers, and the ruined buildings bearing Imperial markings all around him, then stormed up to Iax.

"Tell me the truth about this mission! There's no way this was just an investigation of some ruins! We went in with practically no support, no intelligence, and not even a clear objective."

Korn raised his weapon, aimed it at Iax's head, and demanded answers at the top of his lungs.

Throughout their journey, Iax had acted decisively, every move serving a clear purpose.

Clearly, this lump of metal commanding the Mechanical Legion knew the exact objective and the truth behind it.

The Blood Ravens could fight alongside it, and they were willing to lay down their lives against xenos enemies, but that did not mean they would accept being kept in the dark and deceived.

Guilliman and Cawl had anticipated this. If the mission succeeded, the Blood Ravens would inevitably catch on and demand to know the operation's true purpose.

Iax glanced at Korn, who had removed his helmet to reveal a face filled with anger.

"The objective of this mission was to destroy or seize the Necrons' device and cut off the power supply to their energy field. The age of the construct qualifies it for investigation as an ancient ruin. Current mission status: complete."

Although Korn remained deeply dissatisfied with Iax's answer, he said nothing more. Clearly, this machine would not tell him anything else.

Yvraine soon appeared beside Iax. She looked at the Blood Ravens gathering the remains of their Battle-Brothers and sighed.

"We need to leave quickly. The Necrons will soon muster more troops, and we can no longer hold them off. We've located the nearest Webway gate, and my people have already entered. Hurry and withdraw."
