Bustling Vorsid III

Iax made no response to the Imperial forces' movements. The Pectaro continued drifting in orbit around Vorsid III, maintaining a round-the-clock watch for any Tyranid Bio-fleets that might appear.

Recently, however, Tyranid fleets had become increasingly scarce.

Although the Tyranids possessed an extraordinary capacity for evolution, the Bio-fleets that had come to investigate and gather information on the enemy in accordance with the Great Devourer's will had performed their data collection well.

But before long, under the guidance of other Hive Ships, the Tyranids discovered a problem.

Reducing the damage inflicted by the high-energy particle streams would require enormous amounts of biomass to make every Bio-ship and mature war-beast evolve anew.

Yet there was only one enemy unit with such destructive power, and it was a metal machine. Even defeating it would not make up for the biomass expended.

The Great Devourer's will knew only hunger. Fighting only to grow hungrier was clearly a poor bargain.

And so the Leviathan tendril "Glendirus" began trying to bypass this distinctly unappetizing Star System.

Just as Leontus and the others began working hard to clear the Star System's other planets, something beyond their expectations happened.

Outside the Evernight World's Star System, the Tyranid Swarm's offensives accelerated across several neighboring Star Systems. More and more bio-fleets surged toward the Imperial forces' defensive lines.

Many Sunblades also began bringing survivors out of an increasing number of The Contested Zones, retreating behind this main battle line.

This Star System, designated an avoidance zone by the Great Devourer, became an important assembly point for Imperial forces.

Space fortresses rose one after another, while countless Imperial Ships began resupplying here.

The Evernight World had now become the most prominent region in Segmentum Pacificus. On either side lay the main battle lines the Imperium was struggling to hold.
