A towering Rock Wall stood before them. Kinkaku and Ginkaku followed the passage the Kumogakure Ninja squad had opened on its way in and emerged to find the battlefield outside just as ravaged. Traces of ninjutsu covered the ground. Some Kumogakure Ninja were moving Corpses, while the others stood guard.
When the Kumogakure Ninja saw Kinkaku and Ginkaku emerge, they hurriedly saluted and said, "Lord Second Raikage wishes to see you both."
Kinkaku clicked his tongue softly. He did not need to see the Second Raikage to know what he would say. He would probably hold him accountable for acting without permission this time. If Kinkaku had taken down Kazemori Masaki and the others cleanly, the Second Raikage would have had nothing to say, and Kinkaku could have used the chance to mock him thoroughly. But now—
Kinkaku shot Ginkaku a glare. If Ginkaku had not been his younger brother, he certainly would not have lived this long. Even after Ginkaku had lost the Banana Palm Fan, Kinkaku could not bring himself to punish him.
Seething with frustration, Kinkaku and Ginkaku went to meet the Second Raikage, who was assessing their losses. The pursuing Kumogakure Ninja had walked straight into an ambush and been pinned down by the Konoha ninja from the moment the fighting began, barely managing to gain any advantage.
Even so, there had not been many deaths. The Second Raikage had only wanted to deal the War Faction a blow, so he had led his troops into battle at the right moment and forced the Konoha ninja to withdraw, stopping the fighting before the losses could mount.
Those who had followed Kinkaku and Ginkaku had undoubtedly suffered the worst losses. They were all supporters of the brothers, the most staunchly pro-War Faction ninja, and every one of
