The two of them looked back and found no one there. Their expressions darkened.
Tang Xueqing thought her parents would get angry and blame Tang Shiba, but instead, Mrs. Tang said mildly, "Slow down. Wait for your sister."
Tang Xueqing's face stiffened. She hurriedly looked behind her, but there was no one there. Where was Tang Shiba?
She panicked a little and hurried to explain. "Mom, Dad, I didn't mean it just now. I thought someone pushed me. It's all my fault. I cried so much last night that I didn't sleep well, and now I'm imagining things."
"Oh, you haven't gone downstairs yet? I forgot something and went back to get it. Let's go."
Heh. You little snake. You stole my identity for eighteen years, and now you want to frame me? Not a chance! Ha, ha, ha!
Hearing Tang Shiba curse Tang Xueqing in her thoughts left Tang Dad and Mom feeling uneasy.
They had raised Tang Xueqing for eighteen years, and she had always been their precious girl. Surely making the occasional mistake was only human.
Besides, their adopted daughter had felt insecure ever since learning the truth about her identity. They only wanted to give her a little more love so she could feel reassured.
They hoped their biological daughter would try to understand them, stop targeting Tang Xueqing, and get along with everyone as a family.
Once they were downstairs, Tang Xueqing offered to drive herself, saying she didn't want her father to get too tired.
Mr. Tang softened. Their adopted daughter was still the more considerate one. Their biological daughter looked like a handful.
Mrs. Tang hesitated, however. Earlier, she had heard that Tang Xueqing would deliberately cause a car accident.
She still couldn't believe it. Perhaps Xueqing wasn't that awful.
Tang Shiba didn't stop her. It wouldn't kill anyone this time, anyway.
Once they were in the car, Tang Xueqing suddenly asked her, "Shiba, I'll be good to you once we get home. As long as you don't hate me, I can give you anything. Okay?"
Her show of generosity left Tang Shiba speechless.
"It was mine to begin with. What do you mean, you'll give it to me?"
Sure. Give me all your money. Money's all I want.
Tang Xueqing started crying again, looking at Tang Dad and Mom with tear-filled eyes. "Mom, Dad, should I not have said that? I suddenly feel so hurt. I just wanted to get along with my sister, but she doesn't seem to like me."
"Shiba has only just met us. I'm sure she didn't mean anything by it. Xueqing, go ahead and drive."
Mrs. Song still knew right from wrong. Tang Xueqing had been doing all the talking; her biological daughter simply couldn't be bothered to engage.
Tang Xueqing clenched her teeth, a dark gleam flashing through her eyes.
After the car started moving, Tang Shiba grew drowsy.
[System: Host, there's about to be a car accident. Wake up!]
Huh? There's about to be an accident? Tang Xueqing hurt her arm, and Mom and Dad only got minor injuries. What? Mine were the worst? I nearly got disfigured? No way. I might be lazy, but I like this face.
What? Their biological daughter would be disfigured?
Tang Dad and Mom were startled and quickly looked ahead. The car was moving so slowly. How could they possibly get into an accident?
Tang Xueqing suddenly turned around and asked Tang Shiba, "Shiba, were you calling me just now?"
"Nobody called you. Watch the road. Don't turn around."
Good grief! Who turned their head backward while driving?
Tang Xueqing turned back, looking dejected. Then, with a bang, another car hit theirs.
Tang Xueqing hadn't fastened her seat belt. She slammed into the windshield and screamed in pain.
Tang Dad and Mom were thrown forward too, but fortunately, the front seats stopped them.
Mrs. Tang hurried to check on Tang Shiba. Seeing her already crouched beneath the seat with her arms over her head, she felt a little relieved.
The two of them opened the doors and got out. They discovered that their car had suddenly changed lanes and been hit by the car behind them.
After they pulled Tang Xueqing out, she cried so hard she nearly fainted.
"Mom, Dad, I didn't mean to! I thought Shiba was calling me. I was worried she needed something, so I got distracted. It's all because I care about her too much. It's all my fault!"
"Xueqing, it wasn't your fault. Is your arm hurt? Let's get you to the hospital right away."
Seeing that Tang Shiba was completely unharmed, they told her to stay there and wait for the traffic police. The three of them flagged down a car and rushed to the hospital.
Ah, they're finally gone. My eyes have finally been cured.
My heart hasn't, though. My blind parents are so biased.
Tang Dad and Mom, already in the car, heard those words and felt terribly upset.
They had been in the wrong. They would make it up to her properly afterward.
[Host, Tang Xueqing only has a minor injury. She's perfectly fine. She just had a checkup and went home. Your parents never even remembered you.]
Tang Shiba cooperated with the traffic police, finished dealing with the accident, got something to eat, then took a taxi to the Tang house herself.
By then, the three of them were already home. When the doorbell rang, they wondered who it could be. They opened the door and found Tang Shiba standing there.
Tang Dad and Mom went pale at the sight of her.
Good heavens! They had forgotten their biological daughter and left her behind!
Both of them approached her guiltily.
"Shiba, are you all right? We're sorry. It was our fault. We should have left you a phone number."
Hmph! You don't care about me at all. Once I've saved up enough money, I'm leaving. I don't want to sit around waiting for Tang Xueqing to get me killed, like you two.
What?
Tang Xueqing would harm them?
How could that be?
But ever since they had picked Tang Shiba up, everything she had said had come true.
Had they really been blind?
"Is Shiba back?"
"It's all my fault. I forgot to remind Mom and Dad. Please don't blame them. Since I'm hurt, I couldn't manage on my own. They only forgot because they were looking after me. Please don't be angry, okay?"
Tang Xueqing looked so pitiful that Tang Dad and Mom instinctively wanted to comfort her. Then they remembered their biological daughter was there and held themselves back.
"Shiba, have you had dinner? I'll have the servants make you something."
I ate ages ago. If I'd waited for you to remember me, I'd have starved.
"Mom, I want to rest. Where's my room?"
Song Jia was embarrassed again. They hadn't told anyone to prepare a room at all.
Blind parents. You brought me home without even getting a room ready for me. I'm suddenly regretting this. I want to leave.
Panicking, Song Jia took Tang Shiba's hand and hurriedly said, "It's my fault. Sit down and wait a little while. I'll have the servants get a room ready for you."
"Mom, let her stay in my room. She's tired, so let her rest first. I can chat with her tonight, too."
No way am I sleeping with you. If I sleep in your room, you'll accuse me of stealing your necklace, when you hid it under the bed yourself. Wow! How exciting!
The next day, Mom and Dad will call me a thief for stealing even my little sister's things, and they won't give me anything to eat. Boo-hoo! Poor me!
Song Jia gritted her teeth and hurriedly told the servants to prepare a room.
"It's fine. There's still time. Shiba, sit down and have some fruit first."
Tang Shiba obediently sat in the living room, but she didn't touch any of the fruit on the table.
I'm stuffed! Can anyone relate? I ate over three pounds of grilled fish all by myself. Slurp.
The owner of that grilled fish place was seriously handsome. He grilled fish shirtless, and he had an eight-pack. Ah, that's what lured me in.
Just to look at him a little longer, I forced myself to eat enough for three people. It was tough.
Now I'm so full I want to throw up. Oh my god! Did I get pregnant just from looking at him?
Forget it. I'm not having the baby. I can't afford to raise one.
Tang Dad and Mom didn't know what to say. Their biological daughter certainly had a vivid imagination...
Actually, I wish someone could love me the way that restaurant owner loves grilling fish. But my parents... they don't like me. Later, they'll even bully me... and drive me away...
