Cen Xue glanced doubtfully between Jiang Nuan and Chen Mo, asking Jiang Nuan with her eyes what was going on.
"I met a fortune-teller before. He was this man's senior fellow disciple. He said they couldn't see my fate and invited me to their Master's Sect. I didn't expect to run into him today, and he invited me too.
"I thought our situations were a little alike, so I wondered whether you might also have the Mysterious Fate they mentioned. Since you happened to be here, I called you over."
Jiang Nuan explained.
Cen Xue nodded to show she understood, then turned to Chen Mo and asked, "Is there anything special about this Mysterious Fate you mentioned?"
Chen Mo shook his head and answered:
"I'm not very clear on it myself. Our Master's Sect simply has Ancestral Instructions that say, if we meet someone whose fate we can't see, we must invite them up the mountain. Neither my generation nor my master's generation has ever met anyone like that. I thought such people didn't exist at all, but now I've met two at once."
After hearing his explanation, Cen Xue looked at Jiang Nuan and asked:
"So, Nuannuan, do you want to go now?"
Jiang Nuan nodded. Her intuition told her this trip was very important to her.
"All right. Since you want to go, I'll go with you."
"You just said I have the Mysterious Fate too, so I can come along with you, right?"
Cen Xue recalled what Chen Mo had blurted out upon seeing her.
Chen Mo nodded. The jade pendant he had failed to give Jiang Nuan earlier found its way into Cen Xue's hands instead.
Once Cen Xue had it, she examined it and said:
"You know, this jade pendant of yours is quite pretty!"
