Background / History

Qiuyue and Chunhua formerly belonged to the Assassin Pavilion, where they became known as the Shadow Twin Assassins. Mu Zhiye treated their injuries during that period, but their use of disguises prevented him from immediately recognizing them when they met again 106.

Emperor Jiang Yunsheng assigns both women to Jiang Nuan as personal maids, insisting that they accompany the princess outside the palace. Qiuyue initially dislikes protecting a child, but accepts the assignment because she knows her martial reputation cannot allow her to oppose the imperial court 34 35.

Personality

Qiuyue is initially skeptical of Jiang Nuan’s activities, particularly her attempt to cook while barely taller than the stove. Her attitude changes dramatically after tasting the princess’s cake: she scolds Chunhua for understating its quality and immediately volunteers to whip cream for future batches. Jiang Nuan’s later culinary experiments leave her equally eager to help 35 62.

In dangerous situations, Qiuyue is composed and quick-witted. She calmly reassures Zhou Youjia during a rebel ambush and independently seeks higher authority when officials at the Cen Residence refuse to recognize Jiang Nuan. Against openly hostile officials, she can be mocking and confrontational 81 119 164.

Her confidence does not extend to inventing excuses under pressure. When Jiang Nuan questions the maids’ unusual shifts, Qiuyue fabricates a romance for Chunhua, then accepts the princess’s mistaken assumption that she also has a lover 230.
