The guy's claim about running a promotion was clearly nonsense. The move simply cost that many Pokémon Coins to begin with.

Compared with the shops outside the school gates, though, the price here was already a great deal.

Zhang Cheng readily agreed. After paying thirty thousand Pokémon Coins with his phone, he picked up the Thief Technical Machine from the stall.

With the Technical Machine in hand, Zhang Cheng wasted no time and headed straight back to his lodgings.

Following the same procedure he had used to teach Poliwag Thief, Zhang Cheng placed the Technical Machine in front of Pidgey, then asked Poliwag to explain how to use it.

"Poli~ Poliwag~"

"Pidgey~"

Poliwag gestured at Pidgey for quite a while. Pidgey nodded, seemingly only half understanding, then followed Poliwag's instructions to absorb the Technical Machine.

Soon, the Technical Machine ran out of energy and shattered into countless fragments that fell to the floor.

Pidgey now had the instructions for using Thief in mind. Next, Zhang Cheng planned to have Poliwag serve as a practice partner so Pidgey could get familiar with the move.

Zhang Cheng took out the Candlenut Berry he had obtained earlier and gave it to Poliwag to hold.

Then he had the two Pokémon practice Thief, but the room was too small for them to move freely.

After Pidgey tried twice, Zhang Cheng stopped them. They would resume training in the forest tomorrow.

The next morning, prompted by his ringing alarm, Zhang Cheng took his Pokémon into the forest to train.

As usual, Zhang Cheng went to the waterfall where Machop trained. He arranged for Poliwag to battle Machop, then took Pidgey and Mareep with him.

His main goal now was to raise Mareep's level, while Pidgey and Poliwag took turns battling Machop to gain combat experience.
