Axew began gathering Dragon-type energy, forming Dragon Rage to attack.
"Now, Poliwag, use Hypnosis!"
"Ignore it. Focus on Dragon Rage." Jiang Tao found Zhang Cheng's approach utterly laughable. "By the time Hypnosis goes off, Dragon Rage will have knocked Poliwag out."
Following its Trainer's command, Axew continued gathering energy for Dragon Rage.
But just then, Poliwag's Hypnosis shot straight toward Axew, landing squarely and putting it to sleep.
"What? How did Hypnosis come out so fast?!" Something seemed to occur to Jiang Tao, and he added, "You had Poliwag secretly use Mind Reader just now?"
"That's right. This Hypnosis was boosted by Mind Reader. Your arrogance is going to cost you dearly."
At Zhang Cheng's words, Jiang Tao burst out laughing. "You're celebrating too soon! So what if my Axew is asleep? Your Poliwag doesn't have any Ice-type moves. How are you going to defeat Axew in such a short time?"
Jiang Tao was certain Poliwag had yet to learn any Ice-type moves. If it really knew one, there was no way Zhang Cheng would have kept it hidden this long without using it.
"My Poliwag really doesn't know any Ice-type moves, but it knows a move you're very familiar with," Zhang Cheng said cryptically.
"Stop struggling in vain and face reality. If you don't attack soon, my Axew will wake up," Jiang Tao said, shaking his head.
"Poliwag, use Endeavor, then follow up with Water Gun as fast as you can!"

Dragging its injured body forward, Poliwag used its egg move, Endeavor.
Had Axew been awake, Poliwag's Endeavor could never have landed. But with Axew asleep, the attack struck its target precisely.
Endeavor dealt Axew a devastating blow in an instant, leaving its HP close to the point of fainting.
