Background / History
Ancestor and Earlier Rivalry
Tianyuan’s ancestor is remembered as an existence comparable to a Heavenly Dao True God. According to the legend discussed by its disciples, the Thunder Gate Ancestor could contend with him at thirty–seventy odds, with Tianyuan’s ancestor holding the advantage 24.
A hundred years before the Eastern Pole delegation’s visit, a battle against Tianyuan shattered Eastern Pole Holy Lord Zhao Guizhen’s confidence. He subsequently avoided friction with Tianyuan while rebuilding his strength; the two holy lands remained under a truce when Zhao Yuhao was sent to investigate Chen Mu 28.
Chen Mu’s Awakening and Public Reputation
When Chen Mu awakens a low-grade yellow spiritual root, Tianyuan’s members comfort him rather than reject him. They promise to use the Holy Land’s wealth to improve his talent and cite Chen Tianlin’s own rise as proof that a poor starting point need not determine his future 1.
Chen Mu’s standing also rests on his conduct before recovering his previous-life memories. At Tianyuan Academy, he had earned his fellow students’ loyalty through diligent study, patient guidance, and gifts of pills and spirit stones. Their concern over his absence turns into an aggressive reception for Liu Xiangnan, whom they mistakenly believe has come to challenge him over Ye Qingcheng 10 11.
Chen Juexin later orders the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion to publicize Chen Mu’s dual supreme heavenly-grade thunder and fire spiritual roots. Further reports of his swordsmanship bring congratulatory delegations, pledges of service, and marriage proposals from outside powers 15 16 27 28.
Secret-Realm Expedition
Hundreds of Tianyuan disciples travel by Flying Boat to a hidden realm in the Tianzhou Mountain Range. Tianyuan’s arrival persuades more than half the other participants to withdraw, but the entrance turns blood-red and seals after the expedition enters, revealing a trap 16 17 18.
Chen Mu’s Divine Rank Shadow Puppet, secretly assigned to Ye Qingcheng, protects the expedition and retrieves the Sand Kingdom ruins’ treasures. The Martial Saint escort elder initially attributes the mysterious guardian to the Inner Court; Chen Mu later confirms to Ye Qingcheng that he sent it 20 21 22.
Five Poisons Invasion
The Five Poisons Holy Land attempts to prevent Chen Tianlin from becoming a Great Emperor so its own ancestor can attain the Dao first. Shan Yurong infiltrates Five Poisons and brings advance warning to Chen Mu, who remains confident in Tianyuan’s preparations 45 46 47.
The invasion collapses when Chen Tianlin ascends and destroys the Five Poisons Ancestor. Chen Mu’s immediately subsequent breakthrough leaves the attackers facing two Great Emperors. After Huo Yicheng dies by poison, the remaining elders surrender, and Tianyuan absorbs their Holy Land 48 49.
Organization and Facilities
| Division / Facility | Function and Notable Details |

Trial Tower
The tower’s Spirit of Wisdom learns and imitates challengers’ attack styles, becoming stronger as Tianyuan’s disciples develop 23.
- Clearing floors grants substantial cultivation resources; ranked challengers can receive additional rewards and promotion into the Inner Court 23.
- Challenges test mental strength, technique mastery, and adaptability as well as cultivation 23.
- Recording Stones allow spectators to watch battles inside 23.
- Chen Yu clears the 350th floor. Ye Qingcheng fails to reach the fiftieth floor on her first attempt, then reports advancing twenty floors farther on a later attempt 23 26 47.
Military Strength and Defenses
Cultivator Forces
- Liu Xiangnan encounters Martial Saints and at least three Human Immortals merely while being escorted to Chen Mu’s residence 11.
- Against Five Poisons, Tianyuan deploys hundreds of warships and tens of thousands of powerful cultivators, including Martial Saints and Human Immortals. Its ships are both more numerous and larger than the invaders’ 47.
- This deployment represents only part of Tianyuan’s strength. Most disciples and experts remain abroad, and the elders consider recalling them unnecessary 47.
- Outer Court disciples do not participate in that confrontation; even numerous Inner Court members remain uninvolved 47.
Chen Mu’s Invincible Domain
- Covers the entire Tianyuan Holy Land and makes Chen Mu invincible within its bounds, including against Great Emperors 16.
- Belongs to Chen Mu’s system-granted abilities, not to an institutionally developed defensive formation 16.
Visitor Screening
- Elders inspect incoming Flying Boats with divine sense before permitting entry 18 28.
- During Liu Xiangnan’s visit, a senior alchemist requires him to swallow a seventh-grade Heart Demon Seed, described as fatal if he harbors hostility toward Chen Mu 11.
- Chen Tianlin can detect an evil presence inside the Holy Land, though Chen Mu destroys the possessing demon before his father intervenes 33.

- Chen Xiang rewards participating alchemists from the first hundred-pill batch, explicitly crediting Chen Mu for the benefit 43.
- The scheme motivates elders and disciples to work and cultivate harder while attracting powerful outsiders nearing the ends of their lives 44.
