The moment Wen Ning got a clear look at that face, he recognized the man—Lin Hao.
That young man, wrapped in Grudge Poison, had tortured defenseless little creatures to death, one after another.
Wen Ning hadn't been able to ward it off for him. All he could do was shorten Lin Hao's lifespan to pay the debt.
After that, Wen Ning hadn't seen either Lin Yuwei or Lin Hao again.
But the man crouching here feeding dogs now had large patches of gray hair. His skin was dark and rough, and wrinkles utterly at odds with his actual age covered his forehead and the corners of his eyes. He didn't look twenty-six. He looked like a man in his fifties.
Wen Ning made no attempt to hide and stepped straight out from behind him.
"Lin Hao, what are you doing here?"
Lin Hao's hand stopped in midair as he fed the dogs. He turned and saw Wen Ning.
Wen Ning had actually prepared himself for any reaction—anger, fear, avoidance.
But Lin Hao did none of those things. An awkward smile appeared on his face, as though it had been so long since he'd greeted anyone that even smiling felt unfamiliar.
"Wen."
He greeted Wen Ning in a very calm tone.
Wen Ning walked a few steps closer, his gaze sweeping over the plastic bag full of food on the ground.
Big Gray and Big Yellow had already run into the pack. Big Gray was sniffing noses with the black dog.
Big Yellow sat off to one side, watching Lin Hao warily.
"I asked what you're doing here."
Wen Ning repeated the question, his voice colder than before.
"Are you planning to abuse small animals again? Aren't you afraid of being plagued by Grudge Poison again?"
