Wen Ning stood outside Meng Po's pavilion, watching Old Zhao leave.
He was just about to leave himself.
He had barely taken two steps when a hand suddenly reached out from the side, blocking his path squarely.
It belonged to the Ghost Messenger who had been guiding souls through reincarnation at the window earlier.

The Ghost Messenger addressed Wen Ning respectfully.
Wen Ning stopped and turned to look at him.
"Is there something else? Haven't we finished all the paperwork?"
The Ghost Messenger said,
"There's no problem with the paperwork. Zhao Shuisheng's reincarnation application has been processed. It's Meng Po. She has something to discuss and would like you to come over."
Wen Ning froze. Meng Po wanted to see him? Surely she wasn't actually going to ask him to scrub her back. She was beautiful, but the age gap was far too big.
"Meng Po wants to see me?"
Wen Ning asked again, making no attempt to hide his confusion. "What does she want with me?"
The Ghost Messenger's expression did not change.
"I do not know. Meng Po only asked me to deliver the message and invite you over. As for what it concerns, you will find out when you get there."
Wen Ning rolled his eyes inwardly. I'll find out when I get there, huh.
Still, he followed the Ghost Messenger. After all, he and Meng Po knew each other well. He had to show her that much courtesy.
