Before long, more people arrived.
This time, their leader was a man with a purple badge pinned to his hat.
He carried a cannon over his shoulder and looked like a ranged fighter.
"Chief Guard, those are the ones!"
The man in the blue hat from earlier followed beside him, pointing at Randall and Kurik.
The purple-hatted man's cold gaze swept over Kurik, who lay on the ground, before settling on Randall.
"Are you the one who dared challenge God's authority?"
"He's your god. He means nothing to me!"
Randall spoke without a care.
The purple-hatted man's face immediately darkened.
"You ignorant fool, how dare you insult my god!
You lot, seize him!"
The white-hatted guards hesitated for a long time before finally charging.
There were dozens of them and only two opponents, one of whom was already down. They should have this in the bag!
Yet all they heard was a cold snort before a thunderous roar filled their minds.
Everyone stopped in their tracks. Then their eyes rolled back, and they fell in neat rows like stalks of wheat cut down.
The blue-hatted man, who had not charged, froze in terror and stumbled back several steps.
The purple-hatted man was startled too.
"Wh-what's going on? Hey, what's wrong with you? Get up!"
Then his gaze fell on Randall.
"You! You did this! What exactly did you do?"
Randall said calmly, "They only passed out."
The purple-hatted man's face alternated between pale and livid.
Then he took the cannon off his back, deftly pulled a shell from inside his clothes, and fitted it into a recess in the barrel.
"Assaulting God's Guards carries a sentence of twenty years of labor for God!
But vicious criminals may be killed on the spot!"
Clearly, Randall was the vicious criminal he meant.
