Captain of Squad Nine!

He had to admit it.

Having a wife really was wonderful.

Sure enough, before Uchiha Fugaku even entered the kitchen, Mikoto came over from where she had been looking after Sasuke.

Uchiha Hui, having finished freeloading, did not stick around for Uchiha Fugaku's "fatherly" lectures. He left without looking back, like a loafer walking out after dining and dashing.

Uchiha Hui first settled his emotions with a period of quiet meditation to extract chakra.

He absorbed the pupil power he had obtained earlier.

This time, however.

The improvement to his Three-Tomoe Sharingan was extremely limited.

It only increased by around 3%, barely bringing his three-tomoe progress to 4%. Compared with the previous boosts, which had started at 5% or even 10% after a single absorption, it really was rather paltry.

Fortunately, Uchiha Hui knew how to be content.

After absorbing the pupil power.

Uchiha Hui leafed through the Fire Release scroll the Third had rewarded him with while considering the matter of becoming a squad captain in the Konoha Military Police Force.

The Fire Release technique the Third had given him was called "Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet."

It was a very powerful ninjutsu. If he had to compare them, it bore some similarities to the Dragon Fire Technique Uchiha Hui currently knew, but its power and the difficulty of learning it were worlds apart.

Few people in the story could perform Fire Dragon Flame Bullet. The most famous proficient users were the Third himself and another of the Sannin, Jiraiya, known as the Pervy Sage.

Uchiha Hui had spent a long time studying it after bringing it home that day.

But honestly.

Learning it on his own really was difficult.

It was nowhere near as easy as using a Ninjutsu Card.

Fortunately, he now had a Three-Tomoe Sharingan, and his talent could finally bear fruit. After studying for the past two days, he had picked up a few tricks.

"So, should I become a captain?"

Uchiha Hui put down the scroll and lay on the tatami, gazing at the ceiling with a thoughtful look in his eyes.

There were advantages and disadvantages.

"Then changing my fate starts with becoming a squad captain in the Konoha Military Police Force!"

After spending some time considering it.

Uchiha Hui smiled.

In fact.

He had already known his answer when he was with Uchiha Fugaku. Rather than refusing outright, saying he would "go home and think about it" had essentially meant accepting the arrangement.

Uchiha Hui was not one to agonize unnecessarily.

This place had also been affected on the night of the Nine-Tails' Rampage. Fortunately, after a period of repairs, it had mostly been restored to its original state and looked quite presentable.

"Hey! Hui?! What brings you here?"

Standing at the entrance, Uchiha Hui happened to run into several members of the Konoha Military Police Force. One of them was Uchiha Tekka, whom he had met a few times.

Behind him.

Uchiha Ryuka, who had sparred with Hui several times, was there as well.

"I'm a member of the Konoha Military Police Force too. Why wouldn't I come here?"

Uchiha Hui spread his hands and answered with a smile.

As for Tekka.

He had nothing against him. Tekka had never shown him any ill will, either, and was one of the Uchiha's relatively few elites.

"I heard there's an important meeting today. Looks like you've heard something too..."

Uchiha Tekka approached with a smile and met Uchiha Hui's eyes.

As for Hui.

He was growing increasingly curious about him.

Hui had fought every chunin in the clan, and almost none of them had been able to give him any trouble.

A chunin like Uchiha Hui.

He really did make people see him in a new light!

"Let's go. I haven't been here much, so I might as well follow you and get familiar with the place."

Uchiha Hui glanced at the other ninja and gave them a slight nod in greeting. His gaze lingered on Uchiha Ryuka for a second before returning to Uchiha Tekka.

Uchiha Ryuka was not a bad guy, either.

After their several bouts.

He clearly had no intention of continuing to challenge Hui.

But whenever they met, he still gave Hui that eager look, only to force himself to hold back in the end.

All in all, he was an interesting fellow!

At least by Uchiha standards.

His personality was already quite decent.

The group headed into the building.

Along the way.

Uchiha Hui encountered quite a few members of the Konoha Military Police Force.

Many seemed to recognize him and instinctively greeted him.

The Uchiha clan was neither particularly large nor particularly small.

Having reached the point where most people recognized him made Uchiha Hui a little happy, inevitably lifting his spirits.

Uchiha Hui had originally intended to go straight to Uchiha Fugaku.

But several ninja told him Fugaku was waiting for everyone in the conference room.

And so.

Uchiha Hui simply followed the group into a spacious conference room.

"Captain!"

"Clan Head!"

"..."

As people trickled in and exchanged greetings, the conference room gradually grew quiet.

Seated in an inconspicuous spot off to one side, Uchiha Hui also exchanged a knowing look with Uchiha Fugaku at the head of the table. Fugaku gave him a slight nod, then began presiding over the meeting.

This time.

It was much like the previous clan meeting.

But fewer people were attending.

After all, not every Uchiha ninja belonged to the Konoha Military Police Force.

Uchiha Fugaku sat at the head of the table.

On either side of him sat renowned jonin of the clan such as Uchiha Setsuna, Uchiha Inabi, Uchiha Tekka, and Uchiha Yakumi, who were also in charge of squads within the Konoha Military Police Force.

After a lengthy opening.

Uchiha Fugaku announced the subject of the meeting.

As soon as the words "expanding personnel" left his mouth, everyone in the conference room looked surprised, aside from Uchiha Fugaku himself and Uchiha Setsuna, the clan elder who held real authority.

Of course.

Uchiha Hui, who had known in advance, remained calm as well.

But within his perception.

He faintly sensed several gazes settle on him before quickly withdrawing.

"The membership of the original six squads will remain largely unchanged. After discussing it with Elder Setsuna, we have decided that the captains of the three new squads will be Uchiha Fu, Uchiha Yu, and Uchiha Hui. Their members will be selected from the reserves..."

When Uchiha Fu and Uchiha Yu were named, they drew considerable attention.

Both instinctively straightened up.

But when Uchiha Hui's name was announced, quite a few people still looked stunned.

"Anyone who objects to the captain appointments may come see me afterward."

Uchiha Fugaku exuded an imposing presence, instantly quelling many people's restless thoughts. He continued, "For now, expenses will be covered by the clan, and the areas of responsibility will also be reassigned later. Does anyone have any other suggestions?"

Uchiha Setsuna swept his gaze across the room, eventually finding Uchiha Hui.

Hui had become quite famous recently.

At least within the Uchiha clan, he was no longer known solely as "the clan head's younger brother."

But regarding Uchiha Hui's abilities.

Setsuna still had some doubts.

However.

Uchiha Fugaku had been particularly firm lately, so Setsuna voiced no objections. Instead, he fully aligned himself with Fugaku in his stated position.

"It seems everyone is generally in favor."

Uchiha Fugaku glanced around and smiled. He noticed quite a few people studying Uchiha Hui in the corner, but did not stop them. After pausing for a few seconds, he continued discussing the Konoha Military Police Force's recent work.

Among those matters.

He placed particular emphasis on the situation ahead.

And so.

After nearly two hours.

The meeting finally ended.

"Everyone else is free to go. The existing captains and I will discuss the division of areas and allocation of personnel."

Uchiha Fugaku began clearing the room.

Even Uchiha Hui, who had just become a "captain," was ushered out.

"Uchiha Hui! I challenge you!!"

Just as expected.

The moment Uchiha Hui stepped outside, a voice rang out beside him.

And he was certain.

Uchiha Fugaku and the others inside the conference room had absolutely heard the commotion.
