"Liu Qing took the first win!" As the Announcer spoke, enthusiastic cheers rose from the stands.
"Great job, Glaceon!" Liu Qing praised Glaceon as it ran up to him, and it gave a happy cry in response.
"Come back, Corsola. You did really well!" Misty recalled Corsola.
"What will Misty's second Pokémon be against this formidable Glaceon?" the Announcer asked.
Ordinary attacks will have a hard time hitting Glaceon in hail, so I'll have to use a move that never misses. After a moment of quick thought, Misty took out a Poké Ball and threw it. "I'm counting on you, Staryu!"
A flash of white light revealed an orange Staryu on the field, but the hail began pelting it the moment it appeared.
"This is bad. Any Pokémon that isn't an Ice-type takes damage from the hail every turn. That puts a lot of pressure on Misty," Brock said worriedly.

Ice-type moves were not very effective against either Water-types or Ice-types, but Water-types were more easily frozen and still took damage from hail. Misty therefore ordered Staryu to change its type without hesitation. This was a countermeasure she had devised before the match with Glaceon in mind.
Caught in Blizzard, Staryu's entire body flashed bright yellow. Its color then changed to icy blue, and the ice stopped forming on its body.
"Huh? When did Staryu learn that move?" Ash asked in surprise.
"Misty probably had Staryu
