Background / History

The ancient Life Blue Silver Emperor Grass formed from the life origin of heaven and earth. It governed vitality, could heal all things and command living beings, and was the shared source of life for soul masters and soul beasts. When Spirit Hall’s ancestors allied with the Dark Forces to seize it, the grass shattered its own origin. Countless fragments scattered across the world and became ordinary Blue Silver Grass, while a sliver of core origin remained hidden in Star Dou’s forbidden grounds 43.

After a million years, Lin Chen emerged as the sole successor born from those fragments. The Life Lord identified his Life Blue Silver Grass as the embryonic awakening of the ancient emperor grass and entrusted him with restoring it. She also explained that its full power required reunion with the Ice Heart Grass, its ancient companion herb 43.

Spirit Hall pursued the fragments by hunting high-level soul beasts and cultivating corrupt soul masters. Its goal was to refine the life origin into supreme dark power and dominate the soul master world. By the Life Lord’s account, it already possessed two shards when Lin Chen learned of his inheritance 43.

Appearance

• Color and size: The shard released by the Ice-Fire Qilin Beast is emerald green and approximately the size of a fingernail 54.
• Aura: It emits gentle life energy and hums in response to Lin Chen’s Life Blue Silver Emperor Grass 54.
• Within a host: It appears as an emerald glow in the Qilin Beast’s dantian, around the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion, and between the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s brows 54 59 66.
• During absorption: It becomes a streak of light, enters Lin Chen through his palm, and merges with the martial soul in his dantian 54 60.

Origin Resonance

The shards recognize the emperor grass origin within Lin Chen, allowing him to locate them and establish a connection with their guardians 54 59 66.

• The Life Emperor Pendant channels his origin power toward a shard and can summon a released shard into his body 54 59 60.
• Resonance reveals a shared origin to the guardian, turning the Qilin Beast and Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion from hostile territorial defenders into willing donors 54 59.
• Recognition does not always secure immediate surrender: the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King still requires Lin Chen to withstand three attacks 66.
• The three absorbed shards guide Lin Chen toward the fourth through increasingly strong resonance in the Western Gobi 69.

Illusion Dispelling

The absorbed shards awaken Lin Chen when the Western Gobi’s gray mist traps his group in visions of their deepest fears 68.

• Repeated interception attempts: Ghost Douluo demands the Sunset Forest shard and later interrupts the Scorpion’s peaceful handover, attempting to seize the second shard before Lin Chen can absorb it 55 59 60.
• Bibi Dong’s trap: At the Western Gobi altar, Bibi Dong claims she allowed Lin Chen to collect three shards so she could seize them together and take the complete emperor grass 70.

Continuity Notes

• Nine shards versus four: The Life Lord initially states that nine shards are required, and Lin Chen’s early planning follows that count. The final confrontation nevertheless presents four fused shards as sufficient for complete awakening; the following chapter declares every shard gathered 43 50 70 71.
• Guardian age: The initial explanation places each shard within a supreme hundred-thousand-year soul beast, but the Sunset Forest guardian is explicitly described as a ten-thousand-year Ice-Fire Qilin Beast 43 54.
• First retrieval location: The numbered collection sequence begins with the Sunset Forest shard. Later retrospectives instead refer to Lin Chen’s first shard encounter in the Star Dou Great Forest 54 56 71 73.
