Seeing that Nagato did not seem to believe him, Kakuzu asked.
"You don't believe me? Then let me ask you this: why do you think the Land of Rain became a battlefield for those great nations?"
Before Nagato could answer, Yahiko jumped in.
"Because our Land of Rain is caught between those great nations. They're all bad people. They don't want to wage war in their own countries, so they came to ours."
Kakuzu ignored Yahiko and looked at Nagato again.
"Is that what you think too?"
"Isn't that why?"
Kakuzu laughed at Nagato's answer.
"Yes and no. Let me ask you another question. Why do you think those great nations go to war with each other? What are they trying to achieve?"
This was beyond what the Three Brats knew. Although they had been through a great deal and seemed far more mature than their peers from struggling to survive in a war-torn country, they were still only children.
"I can tell from your faces that you don't know. Let me explain."
Kakuzu explained.
"These great nations wage war for other countries' resources and wealth, of course. There might be other reasons, like using external conflicts to quell internal disputes or using war to eliminate their rivals. But once they win, they're definitely still going to demand something. The losers have to hand over what they own to the winners, whether it's land, supplies, or something else. Put simply, when all is said and done, they're fighting for money."

By then, all Three Brats were captivated by what Kakuzu was saying.
"That's right, money. That's why money is such an important part of this world. With money, you can accomplish all sorts of things."
Kakuzu looked out the window as he spoke.
"For example, if Amegakure had
