Inside a building, Hanzo of the Salamander gazed out the window at the village.
Ever since they had begun cooperating with that Trading Company Kakuzu represented, Amegakure had grown.
The once-dilapidated village now had renovated high-rises and new homes. More people filled the streets, and hope shone on the faces of everyone in the village, ninja and civilians alike.
This was what he had wanted most. Witnessing it all was an honor for him as Amegakure's leader.
Yet he still felt as though something was missing.
With that thought, Hanzo of the Salamander left the bedside and returned to his office. He sat in a luxurious leather chair and draped a blanket made from an entire tiger hide over himself. His desk was made of precious sandalwood, a crystal chandelier hung overhead, and the display cabinet behind him held all manner of rare ornaments.
Rain fell throughout the year in Amegakure, leaving everything outside incredibly damp, yet his office was dry and comfortable. Several dehumidifiers hummed away, keeping the expensive items inside free of moisture.
Nothing more to it. He was simply rich.
The money they had earned in this past year alone exceeded all the wealth Amegakure had accumulated since its founding.

Hanzo of the Salamander picked up a cup carved from crystal and poured himself some red wine. With no one around, he removed his gas mask and took a sip.
