When Mo Yun found Commander Li, he was wiping down a large saber in the courtyard.
The blade gleamed coldly in the morning light, lending Commander Li's rugged face an added air of deadly severity.
"You're back?" Commander Li looked up, saw Mo Yun, and set down his saber with a hearty smile. "How did things go?"
Mo Yun nodded and briefly recounted what had happened during his trip home.
Naturally, he left out the part about sneaking into the Sky Wolf Gang at night and beating Black Wolf senseless. He only said there had been a misunderstanding with the Sky Wolf Gang, which was now resolved, and that his sister's shop was safe.
After hearing him out, Commander Li frowned slightly and said in a low voice, "If anything like that happens again, you can invoke our Crouching Tiger Manor's name directly."
He patted Mo Yun's shoulder, his tone solemn. "You're a Manor Guard now. You represent the dignity of Crouching Tiger Manor. Unless those street thugs and gangs are tired of living, they'll show us some respect."
Mo Yun nodded earnestly. "Yes, I will next time."
Inwardly, however, he thought that invoking the manor's name might save trouble, but sometimes a fight was still necessary. His fists had to do the talking.
He was merely a Manor Guard of the lowest rank. Even if the Sky Wolf Gang refrained from troubling him out of respect for Crouching Tiger Manor, that would be the extent of it.
Now that he had demonstrated his formidable strength, however, Black Wolf wanted to work with him of his own accord and would take greater care of his sister's shop as well.
"Let's go." Commander Li stood and hung the saber at his waist.
"I'll show you around the Inner Court, then arrange
