Early the next morning, just as dawn broke, Commander Li came in person.
Mo Yun was practicing his fist technique in the courtyard. At the knock, he finished his stance and opened the door to find Commander Li standing outside with a booklet in hand.
"I brought you your duty schedule." Commander Li handed him the booklet and patted his shoulder.
"Take a look. Once your leave ends, you'll officially start duty the day after tomorrow."
Mo Yun took the booklet and opened it.
It was densely filled with patrol assignments for different times and areas, written in neat handwriting that made everything clear at a glance.
"Patrol all areas of the Mountain Manor, maintain internal order, prevent fighting, theft, unauthorized departures, and other misconduct among the servants. Report any irregularities promptly..."
Mo Yun read aloud, then looked up at Commander Li. "This job sounds pretty easy?"
"It is easy." Commander Li smiled and nodded. "You just walk around and keep an eye on things. Usually, nothing happens."
He paused and explained, "These patrol duties are generally assigned to newly promoted Manor Guards, to give you more chances to familiarize yourselves with the Mountain Manor. Once you know it well enough, you'll be assigned other duties."
Understanding dawned on Mo Yun, and he nodded.
"Oh, right." Commander Li seemed to remember something and pointed to a spot in the booklet.
"Your patrol area includes the Servants' Court. If you want to visit those companions of yours in the Spirit Herb Garden, that's fine, as long as it doesn't interfere with your work."
Mo Yun's eyes lit up, and he quickly thanked him.
"All right, get back to your practice. I'm off." Commander Li waved and turned to leave.
Mo Yun saw him to the gate, then returned to the courtyard
