The expressions on Jieyin's and Zhunti's faces froze when they saw Daochen appear.
Then, seeing the direction he had come from, both involuntarily sucked in a breath of cold air.

Zhunti froze outright, while Jieyin cleared his throat and sheepishly withdrew the Six-Sense-Purifying Bamboo in his hand. The anger on his face vanished at once, replaced by a smile as he looked at Daochen and spoke.
"Nothing of the sort, nothing of the sort. We fellow disciples were merely contemplating our own cultivation."
As he spoke, Jieyin even kicked Zhunti, who was still standing there in a daze.
"Exactly. It has only been a thousand years since we attained Sagehood. Seeing that the Chaos Void beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens was empty and deserted, perfectly suited to displaying our cultivation, we could not resist releasing a little of our aura."
Coming to his senses, Zhunti awkwardly rubbed his large, bald head.
His hand came away covered in black ash.
"Oh, so that was it. I was overthinking things, then."
Daochen gave a faint smile. His figure flickered, and he appeared silently beside Jieyin and Zhunti.
The sudden arrival frightened the two into another cold sweat.
They had already attained Sagehood and entered the realm of primordial unity great luo golden immortal first heaven. They could be counted among the most powerful beings in this world.
Yet Daochen's abrupt appearance before them still sent a jolt through both their hearts.
He could easily evade their perceptions and appear soundlessly beside them.
