For some reason, he felt a fatal attraction to the crystals before him, as though eating them would make him stronger.
Daochen resisted the urge. He had never encountered anything so tempting before.
By rights, this should not have happened. He was an expert at the sixth level of the Saint Realm. What had he not seen? How could two crystals make him lose control?
Something was wrong. Something was definitely wrong.
His expression grew grave as he looked at the two crystals before him, intending to put them away.
Yet somehow, his hand refused to obey him and brought one of the crystals toward his mouth.
Daochen paled in shock. "My thoughts and actions aren't matching up. Has this already affected my actual body?"
"Could this be an illusion? No, the key lies in these two crystal cores."
He abruptly exerted force, crushing both crystal cores outright.
With a crack, translucent green liquid flowed from inside the two cores. Then Daochen sensed a soul gradually dissipating.
The crystal core seemed to be a living organism, its crystalline exterior serving as its shell. Once the core was crushed, its life slipped away.
Just as Daochen was puzzling over this.
Eight-armed mantises appeared around him, one after another.
They brandished their bladed arms and swarmed toward Daochen.
These creatures were incredibly fast.
They reached Daochen's side almost instantly.
Daochen's expression shifted slightly. "Fuck your mothers! Ganging up on me? Have you got no honor?"
He swung the Heaven Measuring Ruler like a machine, grinding the eight-armed mantises to pieces one by one with his relentless strikes.
Crystal cores drifted through Chaos.
Daochen found this strange. He badly wanted to know just what these creatures were.
An astonishing sight suddenly unfolded before him.
Tentacles abruptly sprouted from those seemingly ordinary crystal cores.
