After generously stating his position, Lin Aofan turned his head aside and waited a full ten seconds, but Lu Xiaoxiao never burst into tears of gratitude.
Puzzled, he turned back to study Lu Xiaoxiao's expression, only to find her looking at him as though he made no sense whatsoever.
The moment their eyes met, Lu Xiaoxiao's expression grew even stranger. "Uh, who told you I didn't have anything?"
Lin Aofan froze, then frowned. "You clearly don't have anything in your hands! Why are you still pretending?"
"Oh, you misunderstood." Lu Xiaoxiao smiled and casually pointed in another direction. "There was too much game to carry, so I put it all over there."
Half believing her, Lin Aofan followed her finger with his gaze, then reeled at the sight.
This... this wasn't just one or two fucking animals! There was a whole little mountain of them!

The color instantly drained from his face. His grip slipped, and one of the two rabbits he was carrying suddenly broke free, landed on the ground, and tried to escape.
Seeing him still standing there in a daze, Lu Xiaoxiao helpfully reminded him, "Hey, old man, looks like your lunch is about to run away."
Snapping out of it, Lin Aofan hurriedly crouched down and scrambled to catch it, but he missed several times in a row. The rabbit soon vanished into the bushes.
He clutched the remaining rabbit tightly, his expression turning even uglier.
Beside him, Su Miaohan was enjoying his misery too much to let him off. She launched into an animated account of Lu Xiaoxiao's haul. "Look, Uncle Lin! Our Xiaoxiao caught four birds, three pheasants, two wild ducks, and even a little wild boar!"
