A man sat inside the president's office on the third floor, propping his head with one hand and crossing his long legs high.
This boss-like posture made it seem as though the entire office belonged to him.
Lin Jingchen frowned the moment he walked in and saw this scene.
Assistant Wang at the secretary desk saw Lin Jingchen approach and prepared to speak up to explain the situation.
Lin Jingchen gave a slight wave, signaling Assistant Wang to step out first.
Assistant Wang understood immediately and said nothing more, taking some documents and riding the elevator down to the first floor.
He wore a worried expression; after all, that person was too shameless, and he feared their CEO would be bullied.
Lin Jingchen walked over, pushed the door open, and went straight to sit in the president's office chair.
He leaned quietly against the backrest, his expression cold, and even his usual smile had vanished.
Furthermore, the young man was still playing a mobile game, not bothering to look at him properly.
"Speak, why are you here at Lin Corporation again today?" Lin Jingchen deliberately emphasized the words "Lin Corporation".
His expression was ice-cold, his cool eyes looking at the young man on the sofa as if gazing at a lifeless object.
"Tch-" The young man abruptly put down his phone and looked up at Lin Jingchen.
His eyes were somewhat similar to Lin Jingchen's, but lacked Lin Jingchen's refinement.
At first glance, he resembled a wolf, his pupils overflowing entirely with ambition.
It was as though he longed to tear the Lin Jingchen before him to pieces.
"Guess," the young man sneered, suddenly rising from the sofa and walking straight up to Lin Jingchen's desk.
He lowered his gaze to look down at Lin Jingchen, reeking of provocation.
"If you have nothing to say, then leave. I don't have time to listen to your nonsense either." Lin Jingchen felt no anger at the young man's provocation, remaining entirely calm instead.
Though Lin Jingchen's tone was as soft as usual, his imposing presence was not the least bit inferior to the young man's.
The young man had originally intended to rile up his "older brother", but seeing the other's dismissive attitude, a surge of anger rushed straight to his head.
He let out a sneer and said, "Lin Jingchen, don't forget, a portion of the shares in this Lin Group belongs to me."
"Yours? You must have forgotten that this group bears the Lin name." Lin Jingchen opened the documents on his desk to read them, paying no attention to the person before him at all.
"You... part of the money for this company was invested by my mother, so naturally a portion of the shares belongs to me too."
Hearing these words, Lin Jingchen, whose expression had been indifferent, frowned slightly and raised his gaze to look at the person before him.
He let out a soft laugh, as if hearing something amusing, and replied, "That's right, that woman did indeed invest a little money. As for the shares, she can give them to whoever she pleases, and that's none of my business either."
"However, if you're thinking of transferring those few shares to someone else in an attempt to threaten me, I advise you to think it through."
Lin Jingchen paused slightly, possessing the cold aesthetic of an ink wash painting, a pair of glasses resting on his high-bridged nose.
He stared at the young man before him with growing sharpness: "You can sell them, and I can buy them back. It won't pose any threat to the Lin family whatsoever."
At these words, the young man slammed a hand down hard onto Lin Jingchen's desk, leaning over to glare viciously into Lin Jingchen's eyes.
He said through gritted teeth, "Lin-Jing-chen, don't forget, my mother is your mother too, and I'm considered your younger brother. Are you really going to watch me die out there?!"
He refused to believe that an older brother who could be so benevolent to strangers-someone who could casually donate money to orphanages-would ignore his own younger brother.
"Younger brother?" Lin Jingchen gave a cold laugh, as if he had heard some incredible joke.
"From start to finish, my family has only ever consisted of my father and my sister. There has never been an extra 'younger brother' like you."
"You!" The young man was rendered speechless with anger, never expecting Lin Jingchen to be so ruthless. He'd rather donate money to strangers than help him out a little; he was about to enter prison, and his mother truly wasted her affection on him.
Seeing that he wouldn't interfere, the young man's attitude instantly softened, and he pleaded with Lin Jingchen: "Second Brother~ I'm begging you, just help me out. We're going to become a family soon anyway, and Mom is about to remarry Uncle."
"You and I will never, ever become a family, and that woman is not my mother either. If you dare instigate her to return, I can quietly and seamlessly get rid of you."
Lin Jingchen narrowed his eyes into slits, Su Chenche's clean and handsome face coming clearly into view. His expression was very calm, yet his amber eyes seemed to harbor a quiet, burning fire.
Seeing that look in his eyes, the young man's scalp suddenly tingled and cold sweat broke out all over his body.
Terrified, he stumbled back a few steps. "Y-you, how dare you." Before he finished speaking, he fled the room.
His mother had told him to come on this trip; she claimed she had handled that man, and that he just needed to get on good terms with his "older brother". As for Lin Xiaoqian, she didn't need to be bothered with since she was already married off, and there was no use sucking up to her anyway.
Who could have anticipated that this older brother of his would be completely different from what his mother described? On the surface he looked like a good person, but his heart was blacker than anyone's.
After he left, Lin Jingchen picked up his phone and made a call.
"Assistant Wang, throw that person straight out if he comes here again." Lin Jingchen twirled a fountain pen in his hand, his voice gentle.
"Understood, CEO Lin." Assistant Wang's voice came through the other end of the phone, and he quickly agreed.
After hanging up, Lin Jingchen opened the desk documents and went back to reading them, as if the scene just now had never happened.
"Bai Chen, Bai Chen..." Lin Sen shouted from the desk.
"What is it?" Bai Chen had just finished showering and was preparing to do laundry when Lin Sen suddenly called out to him.
Lin Sen cautiously glanced around. Seeing no one, he motioned for Bai Chen to come over with a wave of his hand.
Bai Chen:???
Seeing the other's anxious demeanor, Bai Chen assumed a major crisis had occurred, so he casually set down the basin in his hand.
He walked quickly to Lin Sen's bed, looking at him in utter bewilderment.
"Take a look." Lin Sen handed his phone over for Bai Chen to see.
Printed in large characters across the phone screen were: Gu Shao's caring little sweetheart cheated? Gu Shao got cuckolded?
It was even paired with pictures. One of them showed the hand of a young man wearing a windbreaker resting on another guy's shoulder; they looked extremely familiar, but the photo was too distant to make out their faces clearly.
Bai Chen:???
Bai Chen looked up at Lin Sen in confusion and asked, "What's wrong?"
Weren't these just very ordinary gestures between guys? What was so strange about it?
Lin Sen simply pointed straight at the picture below.
Bai Chen followed his gaze and looked further down.
He wouldn't have known if he hadn't looked, but seeing it gave him a fright. The young man in the light gray windbreaker was squatting down in front of another youth, even helping him tie his shoelaces.
That wasn't the main point. The main point was that the young man standing up was his roommate-Gu Yun.
Bai Chen didn't recognize the other person, but he looked very familiar. After staring at the photo for a long time, he finally remembered who it was.
Wasn't that youth in the windbreaker the Brother Li whom Bai Chen had seen at the breakfast shop last time?
Wasn't he Gu Yun's childhood sweetheart?
