They turned the dormitory door handle, and the people inside stopped talking the moment they heard the sound.

Coming into view were two handsome faces, though the one with the cold expression was far more striking; his facial features were sharply angled and stood out in a crowd, yet his light-brown eyes made him look unapproachable.

The boy beside him was also very handsome, and upon seeing them return, he flashed them a smile with two little canine teeth that made him look rather cute-he was the one who had snapped back at people just moments ago, but because of that earlier exchange, Bai Chen and the others had a pretty good impression of him.

At the very least, he knew how to show respect and didn't put on airs.

He took the lead in walking toward Bai Chen and the others, offering them a gentle smile with eyes like a puppy's, looking very cheerful.

"Hello there, I'm from the next-door dorm, my name is Li Ping." He gestured toward the boy behind him. "He and I went to the same school before, so please take good care of us from now on."

As he spoke, he reached out a hand toward them.

Gu Yun was still in shock; that new roommate turned out to be the exact guy who had bumped into him today and looked at him so arrogantly.

The more he thought about it, the angrier and more helpless he felt, and his hand instantly clenched into a fist.

He expressionlessly looked at the young man not far away, wondering what the other was thinking, only to suddenly feel the temperature in the dorm drop a few degrees.

Bai Chen didn't engage in much conversation, reaching out to give a polite, light handshake before letting go and raising his gaze toward the protagonist in the distance-Gu Cheng.

Gu Cheng still wore an expression that screamed he was superior to the heavens, not bothering to look at them straight on, and his look was beyond punch-able.

Yet this was a novel world, and every plotline was a Mary Sue scenario concocted by his Mary Sue younger sister, so Bai Chen simply treated everything in this world like watching a play.

He was a background extra, a melon-eating spectator without a description.

He glanced out of the corner of his eye at Gu Yun, who remained silent, and thought: Tragic, this guy actually turns out to be his destined partner; seeing how things are, who knows how many dragging plot developments there will be in the future.

He stopped trying to draw attention to himself, sitting straight down at his own desk and picking up his phone to check WeChat.

Gu Yun also sat down on the stool beside him, showing disdain toward facing the new roommate.

Meanwhile, Li Ping from the next-door dorm remained completely oblivious, turning back around to talk to Gu Cheng.

After a while, Li Ping went out because he had some errands to run, yet the dorm remained exceptionally quiet, with the protagonists having not exchanged a single word or even greeted one another.

Bai Chen wondered if his presence was the reason the two of them didn't have a chance to speak alone.

He glanced sideways at the two of them-one was reading a book at his desk, while the other lay on his bed playing mobile games, punctuated every now and then by game victory notification sounds.

At that moment, Gu Yun's brow was slightly furrowed, and he was in a rather bad mood.

"Hey, Gu Yun." Bai Chen called out to Gu Yun in a low voice, saying, "I'm a bit hungry and am going to the cafeteria now. What do you want to eat? I can bring something back for you while I'm at it."

Him being hungry was one thing, but the main purpose was to give the two of them a chance to be alone.

Hearing this, Gu Yun turned to look over, his expression softening-unlike his earlier gloominess-and he flashed Bai Chen a smile, saying, "No need, thank you. I don't have much of an appetite today and I'm not hungry, so you go ahead."

Bai Chen felt he didn't look like someone who wasn't hungry, but he didn't press the matter further. He let out an "en" and immediately grabbed his phone to head downstairs.

G City started its September semester with slightly cooling weather, and a gentle breeze made a tuft of Bai Chen's hair sway softly.

The cafeteria of this school had very high-end European-style decor, spanning a total of five floors and divided into Chinese and Western dining areas.

Bai Chen thought to himself that this must be what a noble university in a novel world looked like. He hadn't paid attention to sightseeing when he first came in, but now he realized how immensely luxurious the university truly was; everything was exquisitely decorated, even the restrooms featured luxury tiles and played music.

Was this the world of the wealthy! Bai Chen thought.

He casually ate a bit of food on the first floor, which was delicious-at least better than the dishes cooked at his own university. Before leaving, he thought for a moment and bought a bowl of pork rib congee to go.

The original host's family background was very wealthy, but Bai Chen didn't want to squander money that didn't belong to him, so he only spent a tiny fraction of the original host's monthly allowance. He neatly put away all his clothes and left his belongings untouched, except for the computer that the original host's father had insisted he bring to school.

Even so, every penny he spent was recorded in a ledger, with the intention of paying it back whenever he had the chance in the future.

Back in the dorm at that moment.

Gu Cheng was still playing his game, cursing the terrible teammates in the game while he played, with a vocabulary heavily saturated with maternal insults.

Meanwhile, Bai Chen's brows grew tighter and tighter.

"Bang!"

"Hey, what's your name?" Suddenly, Gu Cheng angrily put down his phone, glanced sideways at Gu Yun, and demanded his name.

Gu Yun didn't raise his head nor answer, quietly reading the book in his hands. Seen from behind, he looked like a straight pine tree, as if he hadn't heard anyone talking to him at all.

Ten seconds of dead silence passed, and Gu Cheng still received no answer. The more he thought about it, the angrier he grew, shifting his gaze from a sidelong glance to an outright stare with a dark and gloomy look in his eyes.

He thought to himself that this person actually dared to ignore him; in all his years growing up, no one had ever treated him like this.

"Do you have any manners? I asked you your name, and you actually ignore me. What are you putting on airs for?" Gu Cheng wore a dark face, looking as though he might rush over to beat someone up at any second.

Yet the young man in the seat still didn't answer, acting as if the other person wasn't speaking to him at all.

After a short while, he slowly opened his mouth, his voice completely devoid of any inflection: "When asking if someone else has manners, you should first learn what respect is."

Gu Cheng hadn't expected the other party to reply like that, and his volume shot up by an entire octave as he snapped, "I'm Gu Cheng." Gu Yun hadn't expected the other guy to actually tell him his name first either.

So he replied unhurriedly, "Gu Yun."

Receiving an answer, Gu Cheng felt a little better inside. He liked talking to good-looking people, feeling that it was a form of enjoyment, which was why the friends around him all possessed medium-high looks.

Especially someone with Gu Yun's appearance, which already belonged to the upper tier of attractiveness-he was better-looking than any of his friends.

Gu Cheng had first noticed him the moment he walked in with Bai Chen; he was way too damn electrifying and completely his type, even if his temper was a bit fiery.

He wanted to say more, but the young man put on his earphones.

Gu Cheng didn't know if he was doing it on purpose, but judging by the look of it, the other party didn't seem to want to talk to him. He stared at the back of the other's head for a moment, then turned his head back to pick up his phone and continue gaming.

Even so, his attention remained focused on the young man sitting in the chair reading.

Just looking at that figure from the back told him the guy was a stunner. His gaze suddenly drifted downward to that waist, which looked like it could be encircled with a single hand. He looked at it and suddenly licked his lips, feeling his mouth go a bit dry.

Meanwhile, Gu Yun also sensed the gaze from behind; he had put on his earphones precisely because he didn't want to talk to the guy, and he had known what that look meant from the very beginning.

Disgusting, Gu Yun thought to himself. He forcibly suppressed that wave of nausea and continued reading the book in his hands.

"Hey, bros, hello everyone." A hearty voice drifted in from outside the door.

Lin Sen turned the doorknob and swaggered in like a big goofball, cheerfully greeting his new roommates and asking their names.

Hearing this, Gu Yun looked up, his expression returning to normal as a friendly smile touched the corners of his mouth. He greeted Lin Sen as well, saying, "Hello, my name is Gu Yun."

"Gu Cheng." Gu Cheng raised his gaze to look at this roommate, shook his head, and felt rather unsatisfied.

He thought to himself: This guy looks alright, but he still doesn't reach my standards.

Lin Sen chatted a bit with Gu Yun, but seeing that the other party seemed to want to read, he didn't disturb him any further.
