Fang Yuan glanced at Gu Yun, then turned to look at Li Xingzhu.

Li Xingzhu suddenly raised his eyes to meet his gaze and shook his head slightly.

"Uh, Gu Yun, I can't tell you either. Why don't you just stay out of this?" Fang Yuan understood what Li Xingzhu meant.

Li Xingzhu had already given him a dressing-down for secretly calling Gu Yun earlier. If he blabbed again now, Li Xingzhu would skin him alive.

He wouldn't dare.

Gu Yun grew angry, his expression darkening further. He stood up, walked over to Li Xingzhu, and spoke with restrained anger. "Li Xingzhu, I don't care how you got hurt, and I don't want to ask anymore. But at the very least, you need to take care of yourself. You have a family, understand?"

He spoke faster and faster, looking as though he might rush forward at any moment and beat some sense into Li Xingzhu so he would stop being so impulsive.

In the end, though, he didn't lay a hand on him. He sighed. "Fang Yuan, take him back later. I'll go deal with that guy."

He had already more or less figured out that Gu Cheng was the one who had hit Li Xingzhu.

Seeing him about to leave, Li Xingzhu couldn't sit still any longer and immediately grabbed Gu Yun's wrist.

"No need. I hit him too, anyway. He's probably at another hospital right now." Li Xingzhu sounded particularly proud.

"Yes, you're amazing. Happy now? Clearly, you haven't been beaten enough. That's all. I'm leaving." With that, Gu Yun left.

But the moment Gu Yun was gone, Li Xingzhu's smile faded, and he gently touched the bandage on his head.

A barely perceptible, sinister smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"Let's go." Li Xingzhu stood up.

"Li Xingzhu, shouldn't you rest a little longer? You look pretty badly hurt." Fang Yuan was a little worried.

After all, he had seen the other man attack Li Xingzhu and land a heavy punch. It had looked particularly serious.

"No need. It's not that bad." Li Xingzhu sounded dismissive.

Bai Chen had just reached the fifth floor of the dormitory stairwell when someone called out to him.

"Hey, young man, which department are you in? It's already past curfew. Don't bother explaining. Come down to the first floor and put your name on the register." A middle-aged woman shone her flashlight on Bai Chen.

Bai Chen was speechless.

His heart sank.

How had he forgotten the most important obstacle, the dorm supervisor? His luck really was terrible today, getting caught like this. He suspected Mercury was in retrograde.

He stood there for a long moment before reluctantly turning around and accepting his fate. He smiled at the dorm supervisor and scratched his head, feeling a little awkward.

The dorm supervisor had just gotten her hair done that day: long, loosely curled hair dyed the light brown that middle-aged women often favored.

Bai Chen's mother had dyed her hair like that before too. He thought it was called the "intellectual woman" hairstyle.

Though Bai Chen couldn't see how a hairstyle could convey the word "intellectual." Didn't that usually come across through how someone spoke and conducted themselves?

The dorm supervisor didn't say much else and led him down to the first floor. Bai Chen had only just climbed up and was nearly at the seventh floor, only to be summoned back to her room on the first.

If he'd known, he wouldn't have come back. He could have spent the night in the park. Now there was no talking his way out of this.

He would lose so many credits. Bai Chen's heart ached. Credits were already hard enough to earn, and now he was losing more than ten in one go.

He stared fixedly as the dorm supervisor handed him the form and said, "Sign here. I just don't understand why you young people love going out partying at night so much. Lack of sleep can easily cause sudden death. It's too dangerous, so don't hold this against me."

Bai Chen admitted his mistakes when he was wrong. As long as someone's advice was sound, he took it to heart. "All right, ma'am. It won't happen again. Thank you."

After signing his name, he prepared to head upstairs.

But the dorm supervisor suddenly called him back. "Don't eat late-night snacks at this hour. It's bad for your stomach. Wash up and go to bed when you get back to your room."

Bai Chen agreed with a smile. "Okay. Thank you."

Once again, he crept quietly up to the seventh floor.

He officially declared this the most exhausting day since he'd transmigrated into this world.

He was dead tired.

He gently turned the dorm room's doorknob, then poked his head inside to assess the situation.

Lin Sen was already asleep, and Gu Yun wasn't back yet, but the bathroom light was on.

Holy shit! Gu Cheng's back?! Bai Chen thought.

Just in case Gu Cheng decided to give him trouble, he needed to hurry up and get into bed.

Terrifying. Absolutely terrifying.

But he had only just reached his spot when the bathroom door opened, sending a rush of steam billowing out.

Bai Chen was speechless.

For fuck's sake! He's out!

Gu Cheng walked out wearing only a towel, with no regard for modesty whatsoever.

Still, to be fair, he had a well-trained physique, the kind many guys dreamed of having.

Gu Cheng spotted Bai Chen too, his face full of disdain. He didn't think much of him at all.

He sneered. "Heh, what are you looking at? You don't have this, but don't bother being jealous. With that scrawny build of yours, you never will."

Bai Chen was speechless.

Tsk, I really want to punch him. I thought he looked pretty decent and had a nice body, but now he doesn't seem like much. That lousy personality really drags down his score.

So sleazy. Utterly sleazy.

Of course, he wouldn't say any of that out loud.

He turned toward Gu Cheng, gave him a thumbs-up, and flashed an inscrutable smile.

Gu Cheng thought Bai Chen was complimenting him and climbed up the bunk ladder in satisfaction. Then, remembering something, he loudly called over to Bai Chen across from him. "Hey, uh, do you know where Gu Yun went?"

Bai Chen closed his eyes tightly, utterly exasperated.

Doesn't he know it's time to sleep? Doesn't he know Lin Sen's already asleep?

So rude.

He said nothing, simply shaking his head emphatically as an answer.

"Oh." Gu Cheng hadn't really expected an answer from Bai Chen anyway.

To stop Gu Cheng from asking him any more questions about Gu Yun, Bai Chen immediately climbed into bed.

He had really stayed up late tonight. It was already three in the morning.

Bai Chen set a little alarm to wake him at eight the next morning.

He groggily climbed out of bed to wash his face and brush his teeth, not even noticing that someone was already seated at a desk studying.

Only when he finished washing his face and shuffled back out did he notice that Gu Yun had returned and was studying.

Bai Chen was speechless.

Is he even human? Does he only sleep a few hours?

"Gu Yun, you're up really early," Bai Chen said.

Gu Yun took off his headphones, looked at Bai Chen, and smiled. "I only just got back. I'm feeling pretty awake."

"Right, got it. I'm heading to class. Bye." Bai Chen checked the time; it was about time to leave.

For some reason, Gu Yun suddenly looked a little down. "Aren't you going to ask where I went last night?"

Bai Chen was speechless.

"Why should I know? That's your private business." Bai Chen was puzzled.
