Amegakure.
Atop a high-rise.
Drip, drop.
The rain outside pattered against the glass with crisp, clear sounds.
Dressed in her Akatsuki cloak, Konan sat with her legs crossed, quietly watching the rain outside. Her face drooped, her eyes melancholy as she gazed at the falling drops.
The pattering rain and the cold wind blowing in only heightened her fragile beauty, making her seem even colder and more distant than usual.
Hers was a beauty that could make fish sink and birds fall, shame the moon and flowers, and bring nations to their knees.
Whoosh!
A flash of golden light suddenly burst from the table before her!
"Who's there?"
The instant she noticed it, she demanded an answer and leaped backward.
With a creak from her chair, an Explosive Tag was already pinched between her fingers.
"A book?"
Once she saw what was glowing, Konan's stern voice turned puzzled, clear and light.
Apart from what she had originally placed there, a very, very thick book now lay on the table. Her gaze flicked toward its cover.
"A diary?"
"Whose diary?"
Why had it appeared on her table in a flash of light without any chakra fluctuations? Even if she wanted to investigate, she had no clues to go on.
After a brief pause, she took two steps forward.
If someone with such miraculous abilities wanted to harm her, they probably wouldn't resort to such a crude disguise for an ambush or assassination.
After all, even Nagato hadn't sensed anything, so her chances of defeating them were even lower. She couldn't resist, yet she wasn't dead. That meant it at least wasn't something bad.
She would find out whether they were a bystander or an ally by taking a look.
Rustle.
The moment she touched the Diary, its rules entered her mind.
