Whoosh-
Heavy rain fell outside the window. Yui Hyuga sat at her dressing table, looking at herself in the mirror.
The blue-green Cursed Seal on her forehead stood out starkly against her pale skin.
"Sigh..."
Six years had passed since she came to this world, and she had even been branded with this hateful mark.
Yui Hyuga was a transmigrator from Blue Star.
Yes, she was a transmigrator familiar with the plot of Naruto.
At first, when she learned she had crossed over into the world of Naruto, she could hardly contain her joy and excitement.
She wanted to meet the characters from the anime and learn its fantastical ninjutsu.
But she seemed to have been born in the wrong timeline.
She had been born in Konoha Year 14.
The Konoha 12 would not be born for another thirty-odd years, and the Fourth Shinobi World War from the main storyline was still more than fifty years away.
By the Fourth Shinobi World War, she would already be an old granny.
It seemed she could only follow Orochimaru's path.
Immortality? Perhaps it really was possible in this fantastical world.
In her previous life, she had held a doctorate in biomedical science and possessed her own unique understanding of medicine and biology.
So she felt that attaining immortality in this world would not be too difficult, especially now that she possessed the Byakugan, an incredible tool that let her see through things.
Her primary sights still had to be set further afield, on the Ōtsutsuki Clan from the skies.
They were what truly worried her.
Her current goal, then, was to improve her strength before building a laboratory to research immortality.
First, though, she had to resolve her immediate predicament.
The Caged Bird Seal was a real nuisance.
Why did the father I ended up with have to die on the battlefield?
The thought filled her with sorrow.
Her father had always acted as though he did not care.
But Yui Hyuga knew he still cared about her.
She had carefully examined the Caged Bird Seal over the past few days, but there was nothing she could do about it.
The Cursed Seal served as a connector, linking the brain at one end and the eyes at the other. The brain was the anchor point; once it died, the eyes would be destroyed along with it.
However, if the Cursed Seal detected that the eyes had moved beyond its range, the seal on the eyes would activate their self-destruction.
Anyone who shared the same clan bloodline but did not bear the same Cursed Seal could control those branded with it.
The Cursed Seal was still rather troublesome for Yui Hyuga at present. With her current abilities, she had no confidence that she could remove it.
She would need at least another ten-odd years.
But she did not have much time. If she still failed to solve the problem of the Cursed Seal in ten years, she really would become a tool for bearing children.
As someone raised with modern ideas, she could not accept that.
But what could she accomplish as a woman on her own?
Her strength alone was nowhere near enough. What good did knowing the entire plot do her?
Suddenly, someone came to mind, though at this point in the timeline, he seemed to be about her age.
And toward the end of the First Shinobi World War, he, too, would become consumed by a yearning for life.
Perhaps the two of them could become like-minded friends. He was the only person who could help her.
She would probably meet him in just a few months...
The girl's skin was as pale as paper. Yui Hyuga studied her own reflection in the mirror.
In fact, the first time she saw herself in the mirror, she had been startled. She had never seen skin this white before.
Eventually, however, she had grown accustomed to it. Others might not understand, but she knew the plot and was well aware of what this white skin meant.
Wasn't this the complexion of the Ōtsutsuki Clan? Given her identity as a member of the Hyuga Clan, she understood that she was probably Returning to Ancestry.
This could be considered a gift from heaven. The purer one's Otsutsuki bloodline, the greater the chance of awakening the Tenseigan.
For ordinary members of the Hyuga Clan, their only connection to the Otsutsuki bloodline was their pair of eyes.
Yui Hyuga was different, however. Part of her body's bloodline had undergone Returning to Ancestry, reverting directly to that of her Otsutsuki ancestors.
For some reason, though, she had not grown any horns.
"Phew-"
Coming back to her senses, she took a deep breath and sat cross-legged on the straw mat to meditate.
She recalled the method for molding chakra from her memories.
Combining physical energy and Mental Energy would produce chakra.
Physical energy should mean the strength of my body, right?
Then what about Mental Energy? The energy in my brain?
She did not quite understand, but she followed her own interpretation anyway.
Waves of warmth surged through her, flowing into her lower abdomen and filling Yui with a soothing sensation.
"Phew-"
Opening her eyes, she stared at her hands in surprise.
She had actually succeeded on her very first attempt at molding chakra.
She really had done it. She felt the tremendous power within her body, though the amount of chakra she had molded was not much.
Slowly calming her emotions, she settled back into meditation.
She steadied her breathing, preparing to mold chakra again.
Just as she became fully immersed in the process, footsteps sounded outside.
Knock, knock, knock-
Someone knocked on the door, forcing Yui to stop molding chakra.
"Time to get up for your etiquette lessons..."
A woman's voice came from outside the door.
Upon hearing it, Yui knew it was time to learn how to become a virtuous "wife."
Learning such things disgusted her, and she instinctively wanted no part of it.
She pretended no one was in the room and ignored the calls from outside.
"Yui Hyuga, are you in there?"
When there was no response from the room, the woman formed hand seals.
"Byakugan, activate."
At once, she could see everything inside the room clearly.
"Hmph. You're too green to play games with me, brat."
She took out a key and unlocked the door.
Creak-
The door opened, and Yui jumped in fright as the woman rushed inside.
The woman wore an elaborate maid's outfit. Though not especially beautiful, she had delicate, pleasant features.
Before Yui could react, the woman scooped her up with one arm.
Hoisting her over her shoulder, she headed toward a room used as a classroom.
By then, Yui understood that she could not resist this woman at all.
She simply stopped struggling.
She wanted to see just what they were going to teach her.
Many people were already seated in the classroom, but every one of them was a girl.
Since Yui was the last to arrive, she was assigned a desk in the back row.
That suited her perfectly. She had no desire to listen to any of this.
