Danzo pondered for a moment, then said, "We need to move against Hyuga Feng a little sooner."
With that, he placed a scroll on Hiruzen Sarutobi's desk.
"Why?" Hiruzen Sarutobi asked in confusion, glancing at the scroll on the desk.
Danzo explained, "Sarutobi, I remember you sent a scroll to the Intelligence Department yesterday to be deciphered!"
"I've already read that scroll."

As Hiruzen Sarutobi listened, his expression grew darker and darker, but the other man seemed not to notice.
"This scroll..."
"Shimura Danzō!" Hiruzen Sarutobi roared, his face slowly flushing red.
He was truly furious now, not merely because Danzo had read classified intelligence ahead of him, but because this was a challenge to the Hokage's authority.
If the earlier incident had merely angered him, this one crossed his bottom line.
"Who exactly is the Hokage here..."
"You or me?"
"Who gave you the authority to read the Hokage's classified intelligence?"
"Why don't I just let you be Hokage, then..."
Hiruzen Sarutobi slammed his hand heavily on the desk, his terrifying chakra erupting along with it.
Then he stormed out of the office.
After hearing those words, Danzo's face grew even more livid.
Watching Hiruzen Sarutobi walk away, he sneered inwardly.

He stood there for a long time before giving a quiet snort.
He no longer felt like staying. After one last glance at the scroll on the desk, he turned to leave.
But just as he stepped through the doorway, Hiruzen Sarutobi, who had already walked some distance away, suddenly returned.
Danzo glanced at him without acknowledging him.
Hiruzen Sarutobi thought it over, then finally sighed.
Then he turned back.
He knew that, had the Second not given them that choice back then,
