"Want some candy?"
A smile appeared on Chu Ge's face as he brought the hand hidden behind his back in front of her, revealing a rainbow-colored lollipop.
He had noticed her gaze drifting toward it earlier, whether intentionally or not, and had simply bought it.
He now had a million Gold Soul Coins, so he could count himself as having a little money. Buying snacks and sweets for his disciple was well within his means.
"Oh!"
Huo Yudie's eyes immediately lit up.
She had been craving that candy earlier. She had never expected her master to buy it for her.
"Don't you want it, Yudie?"
Seeing the girl's delighted expression, Chu Ge's smile deepened, though he deliberately put on a disappointed look as he spoke.
"I like it."
"I want it!"
Hearing his words, she hurriedly shook her head, flashed a sweet smile, and giggled as she took the candy from him and happily began tasting it.
"It really is..."
"So sweet."
Huo Yudie's gaze flickered toward the person before her. Smiling, she murmured in a voice only she could hear.
When she was very young, she had seen others in the Dai Family eating candy. Never mind eating any herself-she had not even dared to approach for a closer look, only hiding far away with her older brother.
"It's sour! It stinks!"
"It doesn't taste good at all..."
Back then, the brother and sister had often hypnotized themselves with words like these. But in truth, how could they not have wanted some...?
"Wutong, would you like some?"
Chu Ge turned his gaze toward Tang Wutong, a hint of hesitation in his eyes as he asked.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but lollipops seemed more like something for little children. Huo Yudie's fondness for them should, by all rights, have been an exception.
He really did not know whether Tang Wutong, a god's daughter, would like them too...
"Yes!"
"Brother Chu, I want some too."
Tang Wutong spoke with anticipation.
Candy.
As far as she remembered, she had never actually eaten any. Her two uncles had always told her candy was bad for her teeth and refused to let her have it.
Now she could finally try some!
With that thought, she took it, nestled beside Tang Wutong, and savored it in little tastes.
"Hmm..."
Watching the peaceful, lovely scene before him, Chu Ge quietly sank into thought, a smile on his face.
Well, here was another girl who never grew up.
"If things stayed like this..."
"That would be pretty nice too."
He could not help saying it with a smile.
After that, they continued their leisurely stroll through the city.
Happy times were always fleeting. As the sun sank in the west, the three returned to Shrek Academy.
Both girls now held a stick of Tanghulu, their faces full of enjoyment.
Seeing their cheerful mood, Chu Ge, who stood beside them, was clearly in good spirits too. After all, as the saying went, happiness was contagious.
A lovely everyday life in another world. Definitely.
"It's getting late, and I haven't had a chance to check out my lodgings in the inner academy yet, so I won't walk you back to your room."
At the foot of the dormitory building, Chu Ge spoke with a smile.
As he spoke, he glanced toward the spot where Mu En had been earlier. It was late now, and Mu En was clearly no longer lingering there. He had long since disappeared.
Perhaps Mu En would have a proper discussion with Yan Shaozhe about his arrival.
"Brother Chu, you couldn't get into our dormitory anyway, could you?"
Tang Wutong chuckled, amusement on her face.
"Understood, Master."
Huo Yudie was clearly much more obedient. She immediately nodded earnestly and answered in a well-behaved manner.
With that, the two waved and returned to their room together under Chu Ge's watchful gaze. It was time for him to head to his own lodgings too.
"The inner academy's direction..."
Chu Ge's gaze settled on
It was already late, but with his reasonably strong cultivation, that clearly did not affect his spiritual perception in the slightest. His gaze immediately settled on the lakeside street a short distance away.
That was Sea God Lake, and across it lay Sea God Island, where the inner academy was located.
"Let's see what sort of lodgings Dean Yan gave me."
A key appeared in Chu Ge's hand. As he considered this, a pair of wings formed from soul power sprouted from his back, and he flew toward Sea God Island.
Sea God Lake was vast, but at his flying speed, it did not take long before he landed on the island.
Sea God Island, the site of the inner academy, was an artificial island built in Shrek City. Like the Sea God Pavilion, it had been named in commemoration of a certain pure-as-ice-and-jade Sea God who had attained godhood ten thousand years ago.
Since the inner academy had few students, each received a courtyard residence of their own. Yes, one courtyard per person.
Moreover, the inner academy's Golden Ancient Tree enhanced the students' soul power cultivation. Living here really was a good deal.
His lodgings were easy to find: a residence on the eastern side, with a fairly spacious courtyard and every piece of furniture he could need. Several other courtyards stood nearby, their lights currently lit.
Perhaps Yan Shaozhe had already cleaned the place. The courtyard residence even had its windows open for ventilation, and he could move straight in with his bags.
"The surroundings are decent."
Chu Ge entered the bedroom, patted the soft mattress on the bed, and offered a casual assessment.
For an inner academy student, this was already quite good. But for someone with the status of a Titled Douluo, these surroundings could only be described as spartan. Of course, he certainly did not mind.
"I'll leave once I've completed a few tasks at Shrek, so I don't need anywhere particularly nice to stay. At worst, I can always buy a house outside the academy later..."
He spoke with a smile while opening a window to air the room.
But when his gaze turned toward a distant tree towering into the clouds, it inevitably caught his attention.
It was a golden tree, its entire body wreathed in golden light and brimming with an immense vitality.
Even his Blue Silver Emperor, with its nine-ring cultivation, fell far short before it. This was the plane spirit of the entire continent, its greatest reserve of power-the Golden Ancient Tree.
"The Golden Ancient Tree certainly lives up to its name."
This vitality must be at least God Level.
Chu Ge could not help thinking this, his face full of wonder.
Aside from Tang San's mother, the Blue Silver Emperor Ah Yin, this might be one of the Douluo Continent's only two God Level life-attribute beings. Speaking of which, how did Ah Yin become a god again...? Hmm, I forgot.
As for why Tang San had no life-attribute abilities, the reason was simple: that bastard was a control-type soul master...
Did anyone understand the sheer significance of Blue Silver Entanglement taking up a soul ring slot?
Just then, under Chu Ge's gaze, the Golden Ancient Tree began shining even more brilliantly than before.
That alone would have been one thing, but the crucial point was...
"Is it calling to me?"
He did not know whether it was his imagination, but the Golden Ancient Tree exuded something that drew him in especially strongly. The feeling defied explanation, yet it seemed genuinely real.
"The Golden Ancient Tree..."
He immediately froze. That was the plane spirit's physical form. How could it possibly be seeking him out? Could it be because it thought he had great potential...?
Or perhaps it was because of his relationship with Yudie.
However he looked at it, this was a good thing. After all, before the child of fortune had been tamed by Tang San, the Douluo Continent did not yet bear the surname Tang. At this point, the Douluo Continent could still be saved.
"If that's really the case, that would be wonderful. I'll go take a look right now..."
Chu Ge had nothing to do anyway. Besides, this would be an enormous help in his efforts to attain godhood and oppose Tang San.
