I'm already using Poison-type Pokémon, and you're lecturing me about morals?! (Please keep reading!!!)
"Do you still want to sleep?" Chen Yan asked, looking at Glameow.
Glameow shook its head, yawned, then lowered its body and stretched, its claws sliding out of its soft pink paw pads.
Chen Yan reached out and quickly stroked its head, then withdrew his hand before it could hiss.
"There was a mosquito on your head. I was just swatting it for you."
Chen Yan said this as Glameow hissed at him.
Glameow stared at him with its crystal-blue eyes for a while, then turned to leave.
Chen Yan reached out and scooped it back up.
"Meow!"
Glameow stared at Chen Yan, who kept a perfectly straight face. "Time to change your dressing. Your bandages are dirty."
Using the dressing change as an excuse, Chen Yan petted Glameow all over, then happily tied its bandages into a beautiful bow.
Glameow quickly escaped Chen Yan's clutches. He checked the time and called out to Gengar, "Pack up. We should get going."
"Geng-"
While Chen Yan and Gengar were packing, a familiar cry rang out from a tree.
"Sni~"
Chen Yan looked up at the Snivy in the tree, a little surprised.
"Snivy, what are you doing here?"
"Sni."
There are people stealing Pokémon back there.
Chen Yan frowned. "Someone's stealing Pokémon? Who?"
Snivy shook its head, indicating that it didn't know.
Chen Yan ran through the organizations in the Sinnoh Region that might steal Pokémon.
The Sinnoh Region's villainous organization, Team Galactic, mainly searched for the legendary Lake Guardians to open a gateway to an ideal world.
The Team Rocket Trio...
Their only target was Pikachu.
Pokémon Hunters?!
"Are they Pokémon Hunters?"
Snivy shook its head, indicating that it didn't know.
"How many?"
"Sni."
Four, all men. They're heading this way.
"I see..."
Chen Yan blinked, glanced at the trainers resting nearby, then called Gengar over and whispered a few words into its ear.
Gengar's scarlet eyes rolled, and it broke into an evil grin.
Gengar left, and Chen Yan opened the cat carrier. "Glameow, sorry for the trouble, but please hide in here for a bit."
Glameow obediently walked into the carrier.
"Hey, hand over your Pokémon... What the hell?"
The Pokémon Hunters climbed out of their aircraft and stopped Chen Yan, intending to make him hand over his Pokémon. Instead, they found him holding a slightly oversized Kakuna, with an injured Glameow in the cat carrier on his chest.
Chen Yan looked at the four Pokémon Hunters before him, so frightened that his lips went pale.
"Y-you... Who are you? Kakuna, l-let's get them!"
One of the Pokémon Hunters frowned at the pale, terrified Chen Yan. "These two pieces of trash are your Pokémon?"
Chen Yan nodded, then shook his head.
"You have other Pokémon?"
"No, but they're not trash!"
Chen Yan protested the Pokémon Hunter's words.
"Only you would treasure garbage like this. Nobody would take them for free, let alone buy them," another Pokémon Hunter said disdainfully.
"You..." Chen Yan's face flushed red with anger.
"Enough. Tell me, have you seen any other trainers?"
"You think I'd tell you?"
The veins in Chen Yan's neck bulged.
"Won't talk? Fine. Let's see if you're still this tough after we take your Pokémon!"
"What? You're going to steal my Pokémon?"
"Scared? Too late. Go, Skorupi." One of the Pokémon Hunters sent out his Skorupi.
Chen Yan backed up several steps. "Please, I'll tell you where they went. Just let me go, okay?"
"Now you're scared? Too late."
"They know you're coming! They're waiting to ambush you up ahead!" Chen Yan shouted with his eyes shut as Skorupi drew closer.
"One of them even has a Dratini!"
The Pokémon Hunters' eyes lit up. The one with a scar on his face asked, "Really?"
Chen Yan nodded.
"Where?"
Chen Yan pointed at the path beside him that led deeper into the forest.
The Pokémon Hunters licked their lips, exchanged glances, and prepared to head deeper into the forest.
"Wait."
The scarred Pokémon Hunter stopped Chen Yan as he was about to leave. "You're coming with us."
Looking terrified, Chen Yan returned to the Pokémon Hunters' group. They surrounded him and headed deeper into the forest together.
"How many of them are there?"
"Two," Chen Yan answered truthfully.
"Two? Just two of them dared to ambush the four of us?"
"Um... Three, counting me?"
"You?" The Pokémon Hunters stared at Chen Yan, then burst out laughing together.
"With a Kakuna that can't fight and an injured Glameow? Don't make us laugh."
"You..." Chen Yan's face flushed red with anger.
As they passed beneath a tree, Chen Yan gave a slight nod.
The Pokémon Hunter at the rear felt something poke his head, as though someone had prodded him with a stick. He looked up and found a big, round purple face smiling at him.
Holding the Thin Bamboo Cane, Gengar hung upside down from the tree and stared at the Pokémon Hunter before it, firing eerie rays from its eyes.
When the rays touched the Pokémon Hunter, his mind descended into confusion.
"Stunky, use Venoshock."
He released his Stunky and ordered it to use Venoshock on the surrounding area.
The special venom sprayed in every direction.
"You spotted them?" Hearing his teammate give a battle command, the scarred Pokémon Hunter leading the group assumed he had found the trainers lying in ambush and warily scanned their surroundings.
But before he saw any enemies, he felt pain shoot through his back.
He turned around and found his teammate indiscriminately attacking everything around him.
"You bastard! What the hell are you doing?!" The scarred Pokémon Hunter endured the pain and angrily shouted at his attacking teammate.
"Aah!"
"What... Aah..."
Two screams came from beside him. The scarred Pokémon Hunter turned and found the other two Pokémon Hunters on the ground, their faces bluish-purple and foam spilling from their mouths.
Their Pokémon were looking around in bewilderment.
What had just flashed past?
"You..."
The scarred Pokémon Hunter felt a stab of pain in his neck. He turned and found Chen Yan looking at him with Kakuna in his arms. Before he fell, he saw something like a scythe raised in front of Kakuna's chest.
"You..." Before he could finish, he collapsed, foaming at the mouth.
"Good night."
Looking at the scarred Pokémon Hunter, who was still glaring at him despite lying on the ground and foaming at the mouth, Chen Yan lifted Kakuna and stabbed his neck again.
Then he softly wished him good night.
Once the scarred Pokémon Hunter had completely lost consciousness, Chen Yan looked at the Kakuna in his arms and said:
"Looks like the Toxic Orb worked pretty well. Both your poison and Gengar's have gotten stronger. Nice work, Kakuna."
[Blink]
The Pokémon Hunter who had been hit by Gengar's Confuse Ray and fallen into confusion was sent flying by Snivy's Magical Leaf and left hanging in a tree.
Their Pokémon were just about to avenge their trainers when the nearby trainers and their Pokémon charged out and ganged up on them.
The battle ended very quickly.
After notifying Officer Jenny, Chen Yan stayed to wait for her arrival, while the other trainers chose to leave.
Chen Yan sat on a rock and thanked Snivy up in the tree.
Snivy smiled sweetly.
"Sni~"
Gengar held Kakuna with one hand and used the Thin Bamboo Cane in the other to keep poking at the badly poisoned Pokémon Hunters.
Just to be safe, it also inflicted burns and paralysis on the Pokémon Hunters and their Pokémon.
"Sni?"
Snivy was curious about why Gengar was adding more debuffs.
"Geng."
Chen Yan said we have to be careful when dealing with bad guys. Lots of powerful heroes got killed because they let their guard down. For Chen Yan's safety, we have to be extra careful!
Snivy: ???
Why couldn't I understand any of that?
"Gengar, gather up all the Poké Balls they stole, then collect the money they're carrying."
"Geng?"
Gengar looked at Chen Yan.
Grandmother told me I can't just take other people's money.
"But they're bad guys. They'll use that money to do bad things. Wouldn't it be better if we took it so they couldn't?"
Gengar: !!!
That makes so much sense!
Gengar began collecting their money.
After Officer Jenny arrived and the necessary formalities were finished, Chen Yan prepared to set off again.
It was a journey... Little incidents were hard to avoid.
Life was a play, and it all came down to acting.
Chen Yan was very satisfied with his performance earlier.
When the arrested Pokémon Hunters accused him of fighting dishonorably by using poison, he responded.
Chen Yan sighed.
"Come on, I'm already using Poison-type Pokémon, and you're lecturing me about morals? Do I look like I have any?"
Glameow: ?
Pokémon Hunters: ??
Officer Jenny: ???
"Quit complaining. I've even found you a permanent meal ticket. Keep at it." Chen Yan patted the scarred Pokémon Hunter on the shoulder, then turned and left.
He glanced at the tree where Snivy had been earlier. It was empty now.
Chen Yan didn't give it much thought. He could ask Professor Rowan about it later.
With the cat carrier on his back and Gengar clearing the way ahead, Chen Yan stepped onto the forest trail and headed toward Lake Verity.
