Chi Jingyang's heart tightened. How could this bald man's eyes be so sharp? His hands, however, never stopped moving.
He pulled out a pebble he had casually picked up along the way, flicked his wrist, and hurled it straight at the mechanism on the stone wall!
The crisp click was drowned out by the tremendous grinding of stone, but everyone present still heard it clearly.
The same rumbling came not only from the direction they had entered, but also from deeper inside the cavern.
Chi Jingyang actually intended to trap them here!
Jiang Yanchuan scooped up the little dumpling in front of him. Catching Chi Jingyang retreating out of the corner of his eye, he made an immediate decision. "Head back!"
There was no telling how far the way ahead stretched. Retracing their steps was the safer option.
The others gave it no further thought and instinctively darted backward at his command.
The rumbling grind of stone slabs grew louder and louder, as though crashing directly against their ears. Watching the stone gates on either side descend faster and faster, they tried to quicken their pace, only to be driven back again and again by hidden arrows shooting out from unknown places!
"Your Majesty!" Liaochen steeled himself. "General Gao and I will clear the way on either side. Take Little Highness and charge ahead-"
"Exactly!" Gao Siyuan agreed. "Your Majesty, just keep moving forward. Leave everything else to us!"
Both men dodged the hidden weapons flying at their sides whenever possible, but always stepped forward to knock away any arrows headed toward Jiang Yanchuan.
Gao Siyuan was not as nimble as Liaochen, and several fresh wounds had already appeared on his body.
Jiang Yanchuan clenched his teeth, his gaze dark.
The hidden weapons came thick and fast from unpredictable directions.
